Is this good whey protein?

What type of whey protein should i be taking?
my mom bought me this stuff a while a go and i havent started to take it yet

its R&L Health Whey Protein
its is vanilla flavoured
pre 20 grams, theys 79 calories, 16 grams of protein, less then one gram of fat, 2grams of carbohydrates and 39mg of Sucalose
does this stuff sound good? should i get some other brand or stick with this stuff?

Should i be taking protein before or after i workout or both?

If you're just taking protein, then I would drink about 3-5 protein shakes a day depending on you're overall diet. I like to have one at breakfast so I have a good dose of protein early in the morning. Pre-workout it is fine to take a serving beforehand if you so choose, but after workout, within the hour after you finish, you definitely want to get some protein in your system. If you're taking creatine as well, you should take the two seperately througout the day, usually at bare minimum an hour or more so the two are not competing for absorption into your body.

If its whey, only take it post workout. Whey is a fast digesting, fast absorbing protein, its in and our of your GI tract in roughly 45 minutes. Its not intended as a meal replacement. Thats kind of a weak powder, 16 grams of protein isnt much....I hope you're getting a good amount from whole food source, best of luck, YJ

It's not bad at all because it's per 20g. It's actually better (and more expensive) than what most of us use. I use GNC 100% Whey and per 29g it's only 20g protein which is less than what you've got. I think the most popular is Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey which is 22g protein per 29g. So, yours is actually more protein, less fat, less carbs than the same size serving of GNC or Optimum Nutrition. I just looked it up and it was $25 for 1kg (2.2lbs). You can get 10lbs Optimum Nutrition's whey for $40. BUT -- It was bought for you so it was free . I would stay with it if I had it.

To get it to mix better try either a.) blender b.) shaker. I actually use my son's sippy cups to shake it lol.

If GNC brand or Optimum Nutrition had the same ratio of protien - serving size there would be 23.2g protien. Yours IS better.
