I used to drink like a fish, and do other recreational things too long ago, but I've only had 2 beers in the last 3 months and I can see a big difference in how I feel and my recovery from working out.

why? do you mean cigs? if so..

honestly there should be no reason why anyone couldn't stop smoking unless they really just plain don't want to do it...just like the alcohol consumption either you do it or you don't, too much or not at all.

I used to be a cig smoker for at least 5 years...I finally WANTED to quit and after many attempts I was able to complete that goal. (Since January 1st, 2007- my last cig was 11:30ish pm before the ball dropped, I was at my boyfriends friends house- all we were doing was sitting, drinking and smoking and I finally said to myself THIS IS IT..as my boyfriend and Iwere driving down the thruway back to his house I had him throw the last few smokes out the window)

If anyone doubts they can stop smoking then they really just don't want to to begin with

Hate smoke but love a beer, but the question has been lost.
Any substance like smoke or beer will hinder recovery of tissue.
Think i answered this one folks lol

It's pretty hard when your're younger and you're the only one who doesn't smoke or drink. Especially the drinking. All I ever hear my friends talk about is what bar they're going to, or how they're getting trashed this weekend, etc. I used to drink and experimented smoking in high school but it's not for me and I'm better off for it. I haven't had an alcoholic drink in over three years. I haven't smoked anything in even longer. Not only does it help my body but it helps my wallet. I can't believe how much my friends spend on smoking and especially drinking when they go out.

I can't believe how I used to bolt down up to 2 cases of beer in a day on a weekend but now just ONE NA beer (nonalcoholic) fills me up! And it tastes like a real treat with a couple burritos or something...instead of something I NEEDED, like water.
...and I don't miss those very unfunny buds who just don't seem funny anymore. Was I that shallow? Sheesh!
