looking your best and diuretics

Say you want to look your best for a special someone or a day at the beach.

How (without massively altering your training) can you look you best by reducing water wieght.

Cutting down on sodium is obvious but do I decrease the amount of water I consume? What effect would diuretics have?

Also often when I want to look my best is often a time when I am consuming alcohol what effect will that play.

Alcohol is somewhat of a "diuretic", but its not the healthy way to shed water weight obviously. Without changing your entire workout routine geared at cutting bodyfat, you just need to watch the sodium intake, take some extra magnesium (this helps with water weight), and drink plenty of clean water everyday.

Obviously I am still working out but you should at least look your best, so besides cutting out sodium what else can one do.

All diuretics do is flush water from your cells - i.e. dehydrates you. Add that to drinking alcohol, being in the sun and cutting down on your water consumption. That sounds quite dangerous - heat stroke or worse. I would NOT take a diuretic and cut back on your water consumption.

Lady C is right..that combo could be dangerous. Try to increase your water intake instead, many believe that water is the best diurectic!

The more water you consume, the less your body will "store". High water intake, low sodium, moderate carbs, minimal alcohol.

Alcohol just blocks the anti-diuretic hormone which keeps in water.
