Lysine

I found a bottle of this on in the kitchen, and I think it belongs to my mom. After reading the label, I started taking it. This is what it says about lysine: Lysine, an important amino acid, is a necessary building block for all protein. Protein helps keep our bodies fit-different proteins help regulate calcium absorption; aid in the production of antibodies, hormones, and enzymes; and help in collagen and tissue renewal.

I take this after my post workout meal, as it says to take after eating. Anyone use/heard about lysine?

From this website.

Quote:
Many foods supply lysine, but the richest sources by far include red meats, fish, and dairy products (milk, eggs, cheese). Vegetables, on the other hand, are generally a poor source of lysine, with the exception of legumes (beans, peas, lentils).
If you're getting your meat ya probably don't need that. Is your mom a vegetarian?

Not sure either, older women tend to take a lot of supplements. Even my mom has piles of vitamins that she probably wouldn't need if she would eat a better diet.

Its also supposed to help heal various sores on the body and helping to prevent herpes outbreaks.

If you are a vegetarian or a vegan and you are eating quinoa, you won't need to supplement either.

It helps cold sores from busting out nastily. I get cold sores every once in a while, and after poppin a few lysines it doesn't go away, but it does stay small and almost unnoticable.
