MAX OT - Supplements

I read the long .pdf article about MAX-OT and think I am going to begin the 6 month cycle on Jan 20. I am gonna follow it to a "T" and hope it works. When reading the articel, I saw that they mention tons of supplements to take. They even tell you what name brand to get. I was wondering if that was just some kind of a promotion stunt. I would like to know which supplements to take and when during the day. Someone who is an expert please let me know which supplements to take and when. Also what are your thoughts on MAX-OT?

I can't call myself an expert but..

My take on it is that it's successful because it tells people exactly what to do, i.e. how to train, what to eat and subtly camouflages some sales splurge in there for their supplements.

Another reason why I think it's successful is because it tells people what they want to hear, do lots of arm exercises and take this magic potion and you'll grow muscles.

The basics it outlines at the beginning are sound - train each body part once a week, don't spend too long in the gym etc, but it's hardly a revelation is it? didn't anyone who's been training longer than a week know that stuff already

It say's train each body part once a week and then goes on to prescribe training shoulders about 3 times a week (directly and indirectly) and then the same for arms.

Don't get me wrong, if you stick with it you'll get results because the foundation of what it says seem sound, but anything works to an extent if you put enough effort into it in my humble opinion

I read it and just thought .....and what?.....big deal!

I'm assuming that you're looking at the MAX OT training on the AST Sports Science site? The training program they go through is good. Of course since it is their training spokes person, on their web site, they're going to be suggesting using their products. I was almost going to say that the actual products were never recommended, but I just flipped thru week 3 and saw that is where the sales pitches begin.
Of course, since you agreed to be the student, and Paul the teacher, you MUST follow his advice and go out and buy the suppliments...lol.
Follow the plan, and screw their advertising. AST does make some good products, and if you do decide that you want to try some, buy from Dps Nutrition, not from the AST site, since they'll hit you for full suggested price. http://www.dpsnutrition.net/
Any similar type products that you feel confident in would work as well with the program.
Best of luck!

Thanks for the heads up guys. I do agree that most of the Max-Ot stuff is pretty obvious. But I am still a little confused on as to exactly what supplements to get and when to take them. I am lifting to gain size and strength. Any exact name of supplements and their usage would be very helpful.

*edit* - I looked around on the web and many say that this is the best creatine out there: http://www.metabolicnutrition.com/cgp.phtml#

Is creatine necessary? Or should I only take protein? I have never taken supplements before so I dont know too much about them.

There isn't one single suppliment you have to take, creatine can help some people, whey is a convenient way of getting enough protein if you can't do it with food. MRPs are also convenient way of getting enough food if you're struggling to eat 6 - 8 meals a day. I eat 4 meals and 2 MRPs for convenience but I'd get similar results with food. Whey is ideal post workout mixed with dextrose, it's also good first thing in the morning before breakfast. But don't get blinded by the hype, suppliments aren't compulsory if you want results

I think Optimum Nutrition protein is pretty cheap, very popular, it tastes great too (I have chocolate). Just get bulk creatine for cheap, don't get MuscleTech, just get plain creatine. Get dextrose, a lot of dextrose.

Creatine does not already have dextrose in it. Some companies may mix their creatine with other things, but creatine itself is just creatine.

I havn't looked into them that much kenyon, but I think getting creatine and mixing it with your own dextrose would be cheaper than buying CellTech for instance.

any links on where to get dextrose?

so far im considering getting these:

creatine: http://www.dpsnutrition.net/product_...1005&last=1005

mrp: http://www.dpsnutrition.net/product_...1233&last=1233

protein: http://www.dpsnutrition.net/product_...1083&last=1083

i cannot find dextrose...

someone comment on the prices and the quality of my selected products...also is it necessary to "load" with creatine?

They all look fine, read the creatine sticky at the top (http://www.discussfitness.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6999). Dextrose might be called glucose in America, you can get it at pharmacies here or shops that sell beer making kits I'm not not sure about over there, or supermarkets probably do it too..

As far as loading with creatine, it's up for debate. Some people will argue you to the mat that you MUST load and then the other people will argue just as ademently that loading is just a way to sell more creatine. After all this time on the board I still have not gotten sufficient evidence that one side or the other of the debate is correct.

As far as the products/prices. DPS Nutrition usually has very competitive prices. Prolab and Optimum are both reputable companies. Prolab is not always the cheapest, but not the worst either.

thanks for the link kitara....and after thinking about it, i dont think i am going to load....

however, i was reading the MAX-OT .pdf and they also had other supplements that they recoomend you take like: androplex 700, gl3 l glutamine, multi pro 32x, 19-nor 3-andro, nac 500, and gaba. Is that just a marketing scheme or should I also go out and seriously get these products?
