Multivitamin Needed For Females

Hey everyone,

My gf is going to start exercising, but she wants to take a multivitamin. She said she wants a "female" multivitamin, but I have little clue about vitamins. I take a multivitamin by Quest - Once a day Maximum.

Can someone suggest something? I live in canada, so I don't know about availabily of particular products. But I can get anything from Shoppers Drugmart, or other stores in Toronto.

Thanks for the help!

Multivitamins are not gender specified. You will do fine getting her any kind really. I get mine from save on foods. They'r pretty cheap there, and you dont get a tone of daily percentages, everything is in moderate doses, which makes it ideal for anyone.

Multivitamins for women MUST include added iron and calcium. Iron to make up for losses each month and calcium to prevent osteoporosis.

Thanks for the tip Lady C. Would you by any chance know of a recommended daily amount for women? This is the one that I use.
Would you say that would be sufficient for her too? Or should I put her on the maximum? For that matter, should I be using the maximum?
The EXTRA contains 120mg calcium, and 15mg of Iron. Also, she does not drink alot of milk as she is lactose intolerant. So she drinks lactose free milk, but she doesnt much care for it. She will have it with cereal, but never on its own.

Also, quest carries a variety of Calcium supplements. Would you recommend taking a multivitamin, and a calcium supplement.

Thanks for the help!

I think she would be happier with a multi-vitamin and a multi-mineral mix. I buy the cheapest brand I can find because as long as they contain what I need. Any more $$ than necessary is just expensive pee. I use Costco brand.

Well, the quest Extra is only $15 for 90 tablets, which is 90 days worth. I'm going to assume that the calcium would be around $10-$12 for 90 tablets. Would you recommend taking the calcium supplements and the multivitamin? And as per the Iron, I'm sure I can just pick up some other supplement for that too. Do you konw roughly the recommended intake for females?

Thanks!

Buy whatever way and brand you feel is good. I am just saying to buy them separately you will spend more than just buying a combined multi-vitamin, multi-mineral all-in-one brand. Like this

BTW that is 9 months worth for $12 vs $45 for your brand that you still have to buy iron and calcium.
