Need Energy!

Hey all,

I wonder if anyone can help me.

I play league football on sunday mornings but as I'm not a morning person I find that I take 30 minutes or so of the game to 'get going' properly. I consider myself to be pretty fit and have no trouble doing the full 90 minutes but I feel that I need a boost.

I do quite a lot of road running but rarely in the mornings.

Can anyone recommend any supplements/foods that may help me out and wake me up a bit!

I've tries Red Bull & stuff like that but it doesnt really help.

Starbucks venti cofee, black.

Red Bull has too much sugar and you'll crash hard right in the middle of your game.

Either I'm right, or I'm just a coffee addict!

While not a supplement, it sounds like what you really need is a good pre-game warm up.

I'm not a big fan of coffee but the strong stuff does help.

Decided to have a big bowl of porridge oats last sunday, a can of V energy (guarana based drink) and a decent warm up.

I had my best game of the season so far, scored 2 goals and we won the game 3-1!

Soccerhead, how are your sleeping habits? You should be getting in close to 8 hours of solid sleep per night.

Too little sleep will obviously leave you drained of energy, but consequently, getting more than 10 hours of sleep will also have you feeling very tired!

Try and get 8 hours, uninterrupted, at the SAME TIME EVERY NIGHT, see what happens

Isotonic Lucozade before and during the game may help in giving you a boost.
