Need help! Creatine & MOM!

I have been working out for good amount of time and am ready to take it to the next level. I want to start taking creatine; however my mom is very against the whole idea. She thinks if I take creatine I am going to keel over and die. While yes there are risks as with anything in life, creatine, if taken properly, has very small risks if any. I have researched creatine on my own and decided I want to take it. I just need now to convince my mom that I won’t die if I take it lol...

So I want to know if anyone has any credible sources talking about that creatine for the most part is safe. I did a search on google, but mostly random sites came up. By the way I am 15 so that’s why I am having the problems with my mom.

lol bro, creatine is, well it's just so incredibly safe I can't even begin to say .... it is naturally occuring anyway, when i used to take it I took it for like a year without coming off....there's nothing to it bro it's nothing. Corey's mom ..... he wont die, infact...he will most probably do the opposite....GROW. .... Also, if she says no, just tell her your going to do it anyway and would like her support. They always give into that, if you did a search for "Creatine Safety" or "Is creatine safe" I'm sure you would come up with literally thousands of pages of crap, the bottom line is you aint gonna die, you could well feel a little sick and bloated, but that subsides and most dont even notice it.....

i had the same problem with my parents a while back. what you really need to do is evaluate the situation yourself. the liklihood is that your mom is never going to be comfortable with you taking creatine no matter what a website says, and she'd probably feel the same if you were a forty year old biochemist - she's your mom thats just how it is sometimes.

you could try what lee said, or also ask her if she thinks its fair to make that decision without having the right information. have her research it HERSELF for a little bit and then see. Me i just bought it and hid it, but i think thats a last resort

good luck and keep us posted

lol i've been taking supps for years and years and still to this day, if i get sick or something the first thing mum says is "it's all that bloody stuff your taking!" lol

i'd try and find a print out or something showing her just what its all about and how it works etc....hopefully she will see it a bit differently.

You really don't want to sneak it, bro. That will just make things worse if they find out. Be patient, they will come around. All of the info on creatine has been good. No reported problems related to its use.

One thing you might want you p's to know is that creatine is in beef. All scientists did was isolate it -- just like they have done with vitamins and mineral supplements. Taking creatine is no more harmful than taking vitamin C.

Even though i would not recomend sneaking it if you really want to do it just buy the creatine and empty the powder into an old protien container or something that she does not mind you taking, she will never know its creatine.

good luck

yea i dont advise sneaking it, but sometimes thats what you have to do. i dont know about "laying down the law" sometimes it works sometimes it backfires. you have to consider what your partents would do

i would try exhausting other options before resorting to sneaking it tho. are you sure your diet and workout is in check? you really need to focus on these before taking creatine any way

ya my diet and workout is in very good. I showed my mom several articles saying creatine wasnt bad, ect. Yet she was able to find one article on cnn that said in it that the american pediatrics something or other said that teens should not use it because of lack of information about the effects on teens. In the same article tho it said that it was perfectly safe for adults to use it. I dont think I would be that much different from an adult because I am 15 and 6'3...

lol, your body produces creatine naturally, it also exists in common foods such as steak, fish, chicken, etc, etc, etc.

Just like Whey protein (which comes from milk), creatine is completely natural and there is nothing that can harm you in it. The only people that think it's dangerous are the ones that are ignorant and don't know what they're talking about.

If everyone knew what creatine actually is, there would never be a discussion about it as to its safety.

maybe if you went with her to a doctor or pharmacist and they say that creatine is o.k, your mom might feel better about you taking it.
