have you been tested for food allergies?

also, maybe you're lactose intolerant or even allergic to milk. have you tried egg white protein powder instead of milk-based?

If his acid is more basic than most you can supplement with HCl tablets which will lower the pH. Digestive enzymes could also be useful

NO !! you sound lactose intolerant. Try a Protien Isolate. If your stomach does not like that then you will have to stick to egg or soy proteins. FYI: Whey is a by-product of milk i.e. discarded junk.

i'm somewhat lactose intolerant too, so i take Optimum Nutritions 100% Whey...it contains lactase which helps you digest the milk sugar lactose...i've never had a problem with it and i've been taking it for a couple of years :

<shrugs> i split, crush, and/or chew pills all the time - the trick is to swallow quickly.

If you find out that you aren't lactose intolerant there is a smoothie you can make which completely masks the taste of the protein powder. The smoothie can be made using half cup of orange juice, cup of milk, scoop of whey, some frozen fruit, a few ice cubes and a blender to mix it all together. I know it sounds complicated but it really only takes an extra minute or two and the result is worthwhile. It actually tastes good!
