Protein Shake

A friend gave me some Myoplex powder and I made my first protein shake today. I have never made one before today. I followed the directions but it seemed so thick. Are these shakes always suppose to that thick or did I do something wrong. I added the one pack of poweder and 16 oz of milk. It still was just to thick. I need some help here. It tasted ok but I just could not drink it being that thick. Does anyone have a good ratio of what I should add milk wise.

Just add as much milk as you want, and yeah - they are always going to be fairly thick....good job we don't take them for pleasure huh.

Instead of milk, add water instead, this will automatically make it less thick (may not taste quite as rich though) without having to drink tons of liquid for your shake. Or, you could try halving the amount of protein powder you put into each shake...make two separate ones instead of one thick one! :

Yeah. I think halfing your portion may be the way to go. If you keep 'watering' it down with milk, you're gonna have too much volume. Take two shakes instead of one with half the serving of Myoplex.

I use two cups of whatever liquid. Most of the time I use water and Ice. If I use milk it's two cups and ice as well... but I like a really thick shake

Yeah like everyone says, more milk makes it aaalll better (but not great)... it was funny, my roommate and I would only put the recommended amount of milk... we'd have to chug that thing b/c of the taste and we'd always be standing near the sink, juuust in case...

after going through various powders and flavors, I ended up buying unflavored protein powder and blending a real shake, for example:
2 scoops protein, 1 cup OJ, 4-5 frozen strawberries, lil scoop of cool whip

tastes a whole lot better and its quick n easy, you can probably try it with the flavored protein powder as well
