Protein Shake Recipe

I hate the taste of protein. No matter if it is choclate, vanilla, or strawberry ect. So I have experimented. I tried pudding in my shakes but that made them too thick. So now I mix hot cocoa powder with my protein. I went to GNC and bought some of the store brand whey protein, unflavored. I mix 3 scoops of that with the hot cocoa powder along with my creatine and glutamine. I'm not worried about the sugar in the cocoa. It helps the creatine. And it tastes pretty good. You can still tell that there is protein there but it is drinkable.

Just thought I would share this info.

The best tasting ones are the canned ones, but they are also more expensive.

Just chug them down. I didn't like using shakes at first, especially when I started doing my postworkout shake in water, but I eventually got used to the taste and now it doesn't bother me.

10-20 seconds of unpleasant flavor isn't going to kill you. Just drink it as fast as you can.

the shakes are so gross that if I try to "chug" them down I get that gag reflex and almost blow chunks all over the place. I cannot stress how much I hate this stuff. and I have tried many different brands for ON, to Allthewhey, GNC brand, EAS, Nitro Tech, ect. I hated the taste of them all.

Whey Chocalate is probly the best to me starwberry is sick though. Maybe try it in milk if you take just the protein by itself.

Good ideas there...

I'm a 'chugger' also... and don't really mind it actually. I mix it with 8oz of water and get it down in 2 gulps, then fill the shaker cup with water and drink that as well.

If something is so disgusting to you that it causes you to gag and almost throw up, then it's a sign that you probably shouldn't be eating/drinking it. If shakes did that to me, I wouldn't suffer through them because it's not a necessity. You can get enough protein from whole foods, it's just going to be more difficult and more expensive.

It's good that you found a way to make your shakes drinkable.

Have you tried using one of those hand held blenders? I usually blend mine until they're smooth and just chug it down, doesn't taste bad at all. I stay away from strawberry now though, that one always tasted rancid no matter what I tried.
