Yes once you have them there's no way to totally get rid of the actual cell (Well, technically there's now gene changing drugs out that can possibly and supposedly destroy them totally... but yeh..), only decrease it's volume. And so long as they go hand in hand with your daily requirements, the shakes will not get stored as fat, however you won't be needing the dextrose or sugar substitute.

Actually over the past few months I've read some different thinking on that. You're definitely right that burning excess fat results not in the destruction of fat cells but rather in empty fat cells but those empty cells don't necessarily hang around forever.

It can take a year or more for the body to start breaking down those empty cells but it looks like it can happen.

Interesting line of though about the fat cells. Most of the sources i've read claim that each person is born with a pre-determined number of fat cells and that the only way to reduce this number would be liposuction or something radical like that.

Have to look into it

Yea its called lipostable or something like that....i saw a study on 20/20 or dateline on it. you can definately target fat areas by injecting in the site... it was pretty cool.

Fat cells die all the time (apoptosis), and new pre-adipocytes are recruited, forming new fat cells depending on storage needs.
