In my personal opinion, the slimfast diet is a load of crap. It would be not so bad if they just stuck making shakes and sold them as nutritional drinks, but to make a whole diet out of the stuff is taking things too far it's really not the best way to lose 'weight'. Sure you might start dropping lbs real quick, but I would be willing to bet I could look 10x better doing a professional diet in the same amount of time simply because I wouldn't be losing weight, I'd be losing fat. Of course, the other thing about slimfast is that if your not very careful, it's only a short term solution because you can't go on like that, and when you stop - most can say a big hello back to the lbs they just dropped.

Well, it is this simple weight loss comes in time with working out and a proper diet. Your friend sounds like she is starving her self. in the long run her motablisim will slow down and she will loose nothing more. How much muscle is she loosing compaired to fat?

Muscle weighs more than fat, I think a lot of people are confused out there. It's not how much you weigh it is the fat your carring around that matters.

Take me I am 5.6 180lbs with 20.3% BF. not too bad, yes I am still too fat.

Take someone else at 5.6 200lbs with 15% BF they are in much better shape, they have less fat but weigh 20 pounds more but that twenty pounds is muscle.

If you are female weight loss will be slower in you than in males, just a simple fact of nature. Also, you will not build muscle mass as quickly, you will will build it but not as quickly.

Well, there is more than one way to skin a cat!

My desire is not to look gaunt and sickly. That is exact what a "slimfast" body will be! I personally like to take a bit more time and have the bodyfat be half of what it was, and have hard body to show for my slower efforts! Which is exactly where I am.

Where are necessary dietary fats and protein coming from? She's definitely not getting what she really needs to experience the benefits of responsible weight control. As has been noted, a woman's 120# body, for example, can be curvaceous & firm, saggy & baggy ... or anywhere in between. Controlling the muscle to fat balance is what finally determines the true value of the scale weight.

You indicate that you're frustrated and "just want the weight off [and you're] willing to try anything." Rest assured that a diet comprised of SlimFast — with a few veggies and some fruit — is hardly the best solution. You will no doubt unnecessarily lose muscle (your best friend in controlling body fat).

What have you tried so far (that isn't working)?

SlimFast "nutrition"

Note that for the Banana Cream shake:
10 grams protein
35 grams carbohydrate (all sugar)
03 grams of fat (rounded to integer value)

12-oz of Coca-Cola offers 40 grams of carbs in the form of sugar. SlimFast is almost there! :
