Some questions on Creatine Monohydrate

Hello, anyways to begin I've been working out for a year and I just bought myself PVL creatine monohydrate. I was just wondering, I heard its best in the start to load up on creatine for the first 4 days of workout (20g's a day), is this true?. If so how much liquid should I mix this amount with? or does that even matter?.

Another question is, After the loading period how many times should I take creatine a day? and when should I? (post, pre, before I go to sleep?). Also should creatine be taken on resting days also? and if so how much dosage..

Final question I had was, I am going to take creatine with Whey Protein Isolate. I was just wondering should I continue taking the protein the way I am now? or will adding creatine make me have to change it?

Thanks alot

Question On Loading Creatine

Hey I had a question, I got myself PVL creatine monohydrate and decided to load up the first 5 days.. I was just wondering, should I take the full 20g a day in just one drink? or split it up like 10g pre workout, and 10g post? or should I take it in another order? thanks.

All you have to change when you add creatine is to make sure you are drinking enough water.

You don't have to load, but it won't hurt you if you do.

Oh yeah, there is no need to take it on off days, just use 5-10g immediately after your workout and you'll be fine.

You will have to account for the extra calories if you use creatine monohydrate because it works best with a dextrose carrier. I really like CM.

But it's well worth it. The stuff is cheap too. CEE is a little more costly, but some say it's very good. I've never tried it though.

It says that to sell you more of it unless it is a low dose brand. Most creatine comes in 5g servings. That is all most need. If someone is using enough postworkout carbs - say 100g for example then they could use 10. Otherwise 5 a day is enough.

thanks for answering my questions, I just had one more..

I was reading that if you first start using creatine its good to take 20g a day of creatine for the first 5 days. Is this true? also a plan I found was

Week 1 - 20g a day

Week 2-4 5-10g a day for maintenence

Then begin again the cycle

Just wondering if this plan is good? also if theres any negatives in this plan please point them out. Thanks alot!

You can load that way but don't have to.

If you do load, once it's in your system, there is no need to use more than 5g a day and only on lifting days because you only use it up when lifting. Again, if using lots of postworkout carbs you could use up to 10g. But really for most of us 5g on lifting days is plenty.

You want to use more you can, it won't hurt you. You'll just pee off the excess. Creatine is cheap and effective. If you can afford to waste a bit by peeing it off go for it.

I don't know much about creatine (have never taken it), but I'm going to move your thread over to supplements and drugs.
