getaway, I can't get your comment out of my head (wow, talk about obsessive compulsive behavior, lol). Why? Its simple: This site is not beholden to
any sponsor. If you look around the web, or at the magazines on the newsstand, you will see these sites and magazines all owe their existence to a product, products, or sponsors. T-nation, bodybuilding.com, Flex, Ironman, etc, are all pushing products. All of their "research" focuses on what will be the "next big thing". Many of them also owe their results to the use of banned substances - but that aspect of their "success" isn't mentioned because it would completely harpoon their message. It is conveniently forgotten, and the reader is therefore misled to incorrect conclusions.
What is the next big thing? Whatever lines their pockets for the next fiscal quarter. Is that bad? Who knows, but people have to realize they are after one thing: Your money. They really don't care if what they tout actually works or not. They have bills to pay and the only way they can do that is if they can convince you to part with your cash - today, tomorrow, and the next day. That is why there is always
THE NEXT BIG THING. If there wasn't, they wouldn't exist.
This site is unique in the fact that it is made up of members who are here to help each other to find what works and what doesn't to reach their goals. That is what makes this a great community. Bodybuilding, general fitness,
fat loss, strongman or powerlifting: All of these subjects are important to the people who read this board. And we are very fortunate that the owners have NOT sold us out to one particular product, idea, or personality. This allows all of us as members to be completely honest and forthright with each other.
In this day and age that is a very precious gift, and I for one am grateful to the owners of the board for that.
Because of this we are not "slick". We don't have the high priced image many other boards project. Our threads and newsletters are created by
all of us - the general membership - so we can give each other the benefits of our experiences without having to worry if there is an agenda or product that needs to be sold.
Old fashioned? In the context used it makes us sound "out of date". I don't see anyone on this board as being out of date. There are many members on this board that have 10+ years in their quest for physical improvement. Honest & Experienced would be much better terms to describe the members on this board.
Ooops, end of rant.
