Vitamin/mineral experiment - check it out!

I got this from Men'sHealth "Ultimate Nutrition" book. It says when choosing a vitamin supplement to do this test to see if it will be absorbable or if you'll just piss it out.

For the experiment I used the ever popular "Mega Men" multi vs. "Equate - Century Plus" potent multi. I've taken the Mega Men for a long time now and like them.

In two separate cups I added warm vinegar to simulate the acids in your stomach. I placed one of each multi into either cup and set the timer for 30 mins as per mag instructions. After only 20 mins the cheapo "Equate" multi was broken down into small pieces and the Mega Man still had most of the green coating left on it. I left the Mega Men in the cup overnight and it STILL was not broken up!

Is there something special about the MM that keeps it in your system long enough to dissolve? Can someone explain why this test may not be fair to the MM? It seriously is making me wonder if I'm just pissing away EXPENSIVE vitamins!!

Thanks.

The test doesnt represent anything IMHO. For one thing the liquid in the stomache is Hydrochloric acid, it can melt nails. I don't think it would have a problem with a little multi-vit. Plus the stomache pulps everything in it by moving around AND is always warm, which all aid in digestion. Plus its what the stomache is designed to do. :-)
