Vitiman C
I recently visited my chiropractor and he noticed a big black and blue mark on my leg (which I received from a small bump in the bathtub). Anyway he told me I need to take at least 1000-2000 mg of Vitiman C a day. I asked him about Sunkist chewables and he said they aren't nearly strong enough.
I need some recommendations on what kind. He told me to beware of places like Vitiman World.
Does anyone have any advice for me?
Thanks,
Kath

GNC or even places like Walmart should have Vitamin C capsules and even if you can't find straight vitamin C they should at least have a good multi vitamin for you to take with a good couple 100% of the vitamin C you need.
How does a chiropractor know enough about about a bump on your leg to suggest vitamin C?
Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. He told me something about the blood vessels and how vitamin C helps. Apparently adding vitamin C will help me to not bruise so easily. The lady at the health food store told me the same thing. He also told me to buy a capsule that has at least 500-1000 in each capsule.
Thanks again,
kath

Do you usually bruise easily? If so you may actually want to have some blood work done to make sure it isn't anything else. I have heard of something else that causes people to bruise easily and it isn;t a lack of vitamin C. Just a suggestions if you don't a little vita C and maybe some zinc should do the trick :<)

Actually I've had lots of blood work done over the past several years and I've always bruised easily; however, since I'm pushing 50 it seems to be getting worse. I don't think it's anything serious. I would like to try the vitamin C first. I just called my local GNC store and they have a 2000 mg capsule and a bottle of 90 is only $9.99 so I don't think that's too bad for a 3 month supply. Thanks for the input.

I think that's a bad idea. The body can't handle that much vitamin C at one time. I think the highest dosage that gets used comfortably by the body is roughly 500 mg (but this is from memory so...). Anything over that and you'll be pissing the stuff away since it's a water-soluble vitamin. It's only $9.99 but still.

I may be wrong but I thought vitamin K is the vitamin you need to be taking for bruising. Eat more broccoli =) not that I don't suggest having a Vitamin C pill everyday.

Not quite right on Vitamin C intake. Your body can actually handle quite a bit of C. Probably between 1000 and 2000 mg. Here is how you can tell. Start taking about 1000 mg per day and increase this by a small about everyday. When your bowel movements start to get really loose, then back off until it is more solid again. If you take the appropriate Vitamin C, you shouldn't have to worry about headcolds again. Of course Coral Calcium is the same. I have not had a cold or cold sore since I've been on Coral Calcium. It's been almost 2 years now. And I averaged 2 to 3 colds per year.

what's with all the "vitimin"? it's vitAmin, dude. not much info on that page at all.
megadoses of C - 1000 mg day taken 500mg morning and night - also helps boost glutathione production bigtime. helluva lot cheaper and more effective than oral glutamine supplementation.

Plus its a great antioxidant for combatting free radicals due to intense exercise. I always take (along with other supplements) 500mg of Vitamin C postworkout.
