Weight gainer supplement

From experience, what weight gainers would be recommended? I am looking for a weight gainer that is low in sugars and high in protein, possibly to eliminate the need for separate protein supplement. I am mostly concerned with getting some extra calories without consuming all the sugars. Thanks!

You're not gonna find anything labeled "weightgainer" that is low in sugars. That's how they get their carb content up is by using sugars. NLarge2 is probably my favorite and its very inexpensive online to buy.

Thanks. I researched the n-large supplement and also found a "general rule of thumb" for weight gainers. Twice the amount of protein as fat and twice the amount of carbs as protein, is this accurate? N-large did not lie between those figures - 6g fat/52g protein/86 g carbs. Wouldn't I want more fats (not saturated) and carbs to gain weight?

Also, I noticed the nutrition facts and it one serving is 4 scoops (152g) is that even possible to consume? It must be ridiculously thick and disgusting.

I have even noticed other weight gainers that are as much as 442g/serving... what are these companies thinking? Obviously the target consumer for this product would be "skinny" or "lean" individuals that most likely have a small stomach, how could anyone even drink these "shakes."

It eating whole foods was an option, then obviously I wouldn't have started this thread in the first place. The problem is that I dont have the money/time to eat enough foods, hence why weight gainers were created.

you dont have 15 minutes to cook yourself some chicken for the next day?

Not really dude. For the amount of servings you can get in HUGE tubs of weight gainers, it is WAY cheaper than buying 40 or so steaks or chicken breasts....you get more servings for less with weight gainers.

May only take 15 minutes to cook several chicken breasts, but finding time to eat enough solid food throughout each day is a different story.

Some people's calorie requirements are super high....so in those cases, you'd have to be eating pretty much all day long in order to consume the amount of calories required. Most people don't have time or jobs that allow them to sit and eat the needed amount of calories per day. This is where weight gainers come in handy, they take 30 seconds to make, a few minutes to drink down, and BAM, you have 500 or so calories in ya!

Awesome, thanks Todd... I appreciate the understanding. It truely is difficult for me to find time to eat solid *quality* foods with work and school. Thanks for the reply. Just one last question, when would be best to take a weight gainer and should I consume all 4 scoops at once??

a really good wieght gainer is a huge peanut butter sandwich. carry a few of these to school woth ya ,and you will definitely gain wieght. this is just an option if you havent thought of it. the only problem is the fat in it but that can be worked off. if you are gonna go with wieght gainers dont rely on just the drinks make sure you still eat alot.
