Not trying to promote anything here, but read an article on these powders that are all natural: http://jayrobb.com/wheyprotpowv2.html
They use Stevia as a sweetner.

That looks like a good protein but $108.20 is ridiculous for 6lbs.If artificial sweetners are a concern just go with a natural non flavored protein. You can get 15lbs of 91% pure isolate for $96.97,5lbs $39.97.

You can also try the flavorless Whey protein from All the whey, it is a good price and a good product. It is what I would be getting if i didnt get such a damn good deal on optimum nutrition heh.

Dude...that is still $5 a lb. I got Allthewhey for $3.50 a lb shipped.

that's exactly what they do.
let's say, for example, that you need to eat 300 grams of protein. that's a LOT of protein. many ppl simply can't manage that because it's too much food or because of work schedules or whatever, so they use protein shakes instead. also, protein shakes are better pre- and post-workout because the protein is in a form that's easily and rapidly assimilated, as opposed to having to chew and digest food.
if you're on a timed carb diet, you may not be eating enough fruits, vegetables, grains, etc, to meet your nutritional needs, so vitamin and mineral supplements come in handy here.

I use Reflex's instant mass or instant mash as I jokingly call it. I did once take a Prolab mass gainer but forgot what it's call as it was a long time ago. I was just wondering if Prolab has improved since?

I've tried protein shakes but I was recently told taking it with milk after a workout is a bad idea...i've tried it with water and it is tough to handle that way....any recommendations for post workout? Not sure why milk is bad except somewhere on this website i read it slows down the path that protein gets to your muscles?

So milk may not be the most efficient way to get all the protein to the muscles as quickly as possible. Neither is a piece of chicken since it has to be digested. So what, as long as you get protien in it will get there at some point. The reason whey with water or juice is the current reccomendation is because whey is faster absorbing. Milk has whey and casein protiens - casein is slower absorbing. Fat in the milk slows digestion a bit - unless you use skim milk. If milk is the only way to get it down - then use milk.
Plenty of bodybuilders, powerlifters, strongmen - anybody who picks up heavy things - have done well over the years drinking gallons of milk every day.

A typical post- workout meal for me these days doesn't involve milk, but there are plenty of things that can be done to create marvelously pleasing flavors. You don't have to settle for something that requires holding your nose.

if you want to do milk, do milk. saying milk is too slow is inaccurate. speed of absorption after training is a non-issue. as said, tons of ppl do milk and they are still making progress

We buy AlltheWhey.com isolate, vanilla (25 grams of protein per 28.4 gram scoop). Mixing however much your body needs with measured components like banana, peach, cherries, strawberries, etc. will create some tasty solutions. Personally, I add 1/3 cup of both 1) low- fat cottage cheese and 2) low-fat organic yogurt. In each serving I also add two tablespoons of flax seed meal. A typical post workout shake might look like this:
Code:
0.33 cup cottage cheese (low-fat)
0.33 cup yogurt – plain, non-fat
4.00 oz strawberries, frozen
1.00 scoop optimum whey protein
4.20 oz banana
2.00 tbsp flax seed meal
40 grams protein, 44 grams carb, 12 grams fat = 443 calories
Beat the hell of it in the blender, then suck it down. Mmmm...
