What should I take to grow? Need advice
Hi,
I have been working out for a long time and every time I take it seriously, including taking some supplements and rich protein foods I can feel some muscle growing.
But, I kind of came to a stall.
I have been taking Original Met-Rx, GNC Creatine and GNC Glutamine, but growing is not that visible. I also eat some protein bars during the day, eat some cottage cheese, etc...
I avoid eating fat during the day and carbs in the evening. I don't want to put fat.
So, how can I get lean mass? Should I be taking more protein? Is there any new supplement that might help me? Should I get whey protein? Just eat more food? What about those andro stuff? Are they completely safe?
I will appreciate any help.
Thanks

First point of muscle growth is quality nutrition. Be sure you are eating 6 quality meals a day, rich in carbohydrates and completel protein. Don't neglect essential fat, but don't overdo it either. EFA will aid in muscle growth. Eat at least 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. Shoot for 2-2.5 grams of carbs, perhaps more depending on your bodytype and metabolism.
Supplementing is another aspect. First, I'd suggest buying supplements from name brands such as TwinLab, SportsPharma, EAS......I use to manage GNC, they have wonderful multi vits and herbs, but they suck on sports nutrition. They're target is the Baby Boomers, and sports nutrition is not of GNC's primary intererst. I had tons of returns on GNC name brand sports nutrition.

Somedays I might take 1g of protein per pound, another days a little bit less.
I take a yogurt in the morning (10g), eat two protein bars during work hours (22g each), lunch (variable), one pack of met-rx (37g) before and another after (37g) workout, plus some sandwiches qith ricote cheese, fat-free cheese and turkey breast (20g). Something like that.
I mix 6 grams of creatine in my met-rx shake before working out, and 5grams of glutamine in the shake after workout.
Should I take more protein? Should I get Whey?
My routine has been 1 day (chest, shoulder and triceps) other day (back, biceps, legas), I do ABS in one or the other day depending of my time. But recently I have been splitting more like. I might do just chest and abs one day, than back and biceps, than shoulder and triceps.
How many days interval should be to workout the same body part? Should I split my routine even more? how?

I'd exchange it. I don't think the GNC name brand Glutamine is quality. I think it's pure baking powder. They will do an exchange, even if it's been open.

maybe my breakfast should include more protein. Usually it is very light, cause I am always late to work. What do u think?
Usually breakfast at 7:30, firts work break at 10:30, lunch at 12:30, ssecond break at 4:00, at 6:30 I protein shake, go work out, at 10pm another shake and sandwiches.
What kind of rich protein food or suplement is easy to have at work?

Any GNC suplement that works? What about their whey protein?
I can't spend a million every month to get twinlab and other expensive brands.
What is the best cost/value brand?
Thanks

Looks like you are taking lots of protein. Try to take some Vitamin C with each dose of protein it helps heaps with the absorbtion.

[i] What about those andro stuff? Are they completely safe?[/b]
|
Well i am currently on androbolin, a tribulus stack with phyto-sterol and over 60% saponins, its very effective, after one and a bit weeks of popping the pills i have certainly noticed some changes, mood, sex drive, hunger, and strength and way faster recovery (also i have just began taking creatine again).
They recommend on the packet to cycle it in 6-8 weeks periods, however ive read elsewhere that 4-6 weeks is a more preferable as it is so strong.
I took it for 8 weeks last year and at the end of the cycle i became really sick, had blood tests and it showed elevated ALT and AST levels of the liver, similar to values from steroid users. However, i cant be positive that it was the tablets of the virus that caused the raise in levels, but my opinion is that the liver problem is most probably why i got so sick in the first place.
Again i read the label and it also recommends to be taken with the use of Liver repair (milk thistle), which i didnt do last year. I am on the liver repair this time and i will be having blood tests done after 4 weeks to see what the story is. Also worth mentioning, my diet this time is far better than last year, where i was stuffing in whatever, whenever, i was jamming lots of saturated fat down, which would i beleive put greater stress on the liver than my current diet.
I honestly think that a good quality andro stack combined with good training and good diet and rest will return satisfying results with little sideffects. Again check out the product, if it recommends a liver repair product, theres a good reason it does.
If you wanna check out a bit about androbolin heres a link
http://www.vitaminsaustralia.com.au/prod1920.htm
im not sure if you can buy it outside australia, but theres no doubt something on the market similar everywhere.

If you're not growing and not increasing your weight just add more calories, your weight needs to increase so that your muscle mass can increase (if you do it right you won't increase BF, only muscle), that's where most people get stuck, they take a boat load of protein, creatine, glutamine, whatever, but they don't ingest enough calories to support muscle growth, to gains muscle you need to eat more calories than what your body uses on a daily basis, otherwise you'll make marginal gains or no gains at all.
The more muscle you have, the more calories you'll need so you need to adjust that as you increase your mass.

While you are correct in this statement. This is where your meal frequency comes into play. When I tell people how much I eat during a day they are always Like GOOD GRACIOUS how do you not get fat!!! BUT what they dont realize is even though I was eating all day long and having chicken breast and whole wheat pasta and extra lean hamburgers and salmon and MRP's and so on I still probably did not have as many calories as they did whith there three meals consisting of sausage biscuits, super size mcdonalds and pizza. Make sure you eat your meals on the frequency that everyone has outlined and you can get your calories through the roof on healthy foods. IN fact sometime at the end of the day I find myself adjusting my meals a small bit so I dont exceed my calories and I am pushing 4000 a day !!!
If upping your calories can "only" be accomplished by having the weight gainer powders try to stick with one that still has a good amount of protein while mainting a lower sugar ratio!!! If you can avoid those powders though definately do it!!!
Here is a sample of my diet if you like this is from the first two days of this week.
