What to look for in a suppliment

Hi

I`ve recently been using a protien suppliment and drinking it in shake form after I workout. I keep getting told from various sources different things to try. I have now changed over to a different suppliment (Cyclone?) that I am told gives more than just protien. However, I`m not familar with most of the ingredients so I dont know what good it is actually doing. If someone has time could you shed any light?

Each Serving is giving me:

30gm Whey Protien (I understand this one)
20gm Dextrose ??
5gm Creatine Monohydrate ??
5gm Glutamine (I know this one!)
1500mg HMB ??
500mg Potassium Bicarb
500mg Sodium Bicarb
40mg 97% Beta-Ecdysterone ??
5mg Bioperine
200mcg Chromium Polynicotinate
4gm MCT`s and EFA`s

Well, most of that is rocket science to me !!

Thanks in advance

30gm Whey Protien (I understand this one)
Glad you do!

20gm Dextrose ??
It's sugar. It causes an insulin response, but not a very good one. 20g isn't enough to do you any good, just increases the calories.

5gm Creatine Monohydrate ??
Plain old creatine. Increases water to cells and gives you that extra rep (sometimes).

1500mg HMB ??
ß-hydroxy-ß-methylbutyrate - It increases (slightly) LBM in rats. Not tested on humans and not worth a **** in my opinion.

500mg Potassium Bicarb
Commonly used in plant fertilizer, this is worthless. If you need potassium, buy a multi-vit

500mg Sodium Bicarb
Fancy word for Baking Soda.

40mg 97% Beta-Ecdysterone ??
Got me here. I actually had to look this one up. It's a PLANT STEROL which people love to compare to steroids. It's as much a steroid as a corticosteroid would be. BS.

5mg Bioperine
Black Pepper Extract.

200mcg Chromium Polynicotinate
Picolinate, and this is actually dangerous.

4gm MCT`s and EFA`s
Get some flax seed oil if you want EFA's.

Personally, I bet this is overpriced junk. Save yourself some cash and buy a 5lb tub of Optimum Whey (chocolate is good), Optimum Creatine Monohydrate (it is CreaPure, which is the best), and Alpha Lipoic Acid (www.1fast400.com). Throw a banana, some flax seed oil, and some whey in a blender and you have yourself a tasty MRP.

Take ALA before hand and watch the protein as it shuttles to your muscles! Check out my review (under the name lastDays, punks) http://www.discussfitness.com/showth...&threadid=1947 of a popular creatine. You'll notice, I'm quite the minimalist.

Thumbs up

^ I'm with stupid. ^

However, I am a bit surprised that you hadn't heard of Beta-Ecdysterone since it's been hyped for the last year or so for absolutely incredible gains.
