When do you take your protein?


I'm thinking of making a shake both before and after a workout.
A large glass sized shake consisting of protein powder, bananas and milk.
For the second shake after my workout, I'll add a heaped teaspoon to the mix.

How does this sound and how does it differ from what you do?

I take 40g protein and 100g carbs a malto/dextro mix pwo over 20 minutes. I would prefer however to take some before and during but stomach doesnt allow that all the time.

1.5 scoops breakfast

1.5 scoops postworkout (35g protein) with ~70g maltodextrin/dextrose, similar to maxgain but i drink that over an hour

How much you need is purely individual. Taking one pre and one post is just fine.

I've been doing that for a long time 2 scoops whey, 2 cups skim milk, 1 medium banana - 57g carbs, 57g protein.

Now that I'm doing longer workouts - I get weak and shaky part way through - I'm adding another to sip on during the workout.

I take protein every 2 hours with every meal I have. Whether it be protein from a shake or solid food, I make sure I get protein every 2 hours or so. The amount per meal will depend on your bodyweight, your fitness level and what your goals are.

This is something you need to find out and then apply it to yourself.

As for my workouts, I take a shake both before and immediately after I am done training.

I drink about a 50g protein shake in the morning and another after working out in the evening.

I have some in the morning, then i have a postwork drink with some glutamine.
