When, or if to start taking Creatine

I've been going to the gym since December 6, 04. I missed the last six weeks because I purchased a new home on March 23 and then spent every spare minute working on it and getting moved in. I've lost a little ground in the six week layoff, but due to the amount of plain old hard work I did on the house, not as much as one would expect if it was idle time. I'm back in the gym and working hard to get my progress back to the level it was.

I'm considering trying Creatine. I've read the FAQ above and several threads on the subject, but none really suggest when is the right time for someone to start.

Some personal data:

52 year old male.
5' 11" and 204 lb.
Bodyfat 13% as measured with calipers.

I was formerly 264 lb until I started a fitness & diet program 10 months ago.

My current goal is to get my bodyfat percentage down to around 10% and to increase muscle mass and strength.

So, should I go ahead and start Creatine now, or wait until I've made a little more progress on the bodyfat goal? I'm thinking that the Creatine should help me build muscle mass faster, which will help burn the fat faster.

The only other suppliments I take are a multivitamin and fish oil. I have a protein drink with added fruit after workouts.

Thanks,

Gearloose

id wait until you get your bodyfat closer to where you want it. Your not going to be building any muscle while your dropping bodyfat anyway.

I believe creatine helped me drop some weight. My cardio seems to go a little smoother when I am using it. I dont get as sore and I can go a little longer before the legs really start to burn. I have been off and on creatine for the past three years.
