Whey Protein (quick one)

Got a quick one about my protien supplement that I am taking. I bought a 5lb tub or 20g chocolate flavored Whey Protein GNC brand (hey, it only cost 25 bucks after the 30% and the discount card). When I mix it, I pour 1 scoop into cold water, and mix with a spoon. Thing is sometimes when I mix, there are clumbs that don't disolve (you know after mixing, not all powder gets mixed with the water and some clumbs at the bottom or near top). My question should I drink those clumbs or take them out of the drink? My guess is that after I take out those clumbs my measured 20grams of protein turns to 17-18g. Thing is that those clumbs taste nasty. No my protein is not old, just the fact of soaked clumbs of protein tastes bad.

thnaks for your input.

plug your nose and suck them back. plugging your nose disables your sense of taste (which is why food tastes so blah when you have a cold).

If you are having clumps after mixing I would go with another protein when you run out.Unless you use a blender you can expect some undissolved particules but clumps I never have even with spoon mixing with ON,Sportpharma(Costco brand) and All the Whey.

get a shaker. those things are great!!!! that should do the trick, but yea if you have clumps I would go with another protein powder after this is up. My personal suggestion would be ON Whey. You can get a 5lb tub, for no more then $30 shipped. Per scoop it about 23g of protein. I am not sure about yours but when I checked with GNC last week their 2lb tub of "Mega Whey" was 43g of protein per 3 scoops ($50), double check the back of the container see how many scoops you need in order to get the amount of protein you want.

$25 after a 30% discount for only 20g per scoop isn't cheap. The Vitamin Shoppe sells 5 lb. ON Whey with 23g per scoop for $30.69. I almost never get clumps with it and if I do then it tastes good.

My first tub of protein was GNC. I had the same problem, and the stuff tasted horrible.
ON actually tastes good, and dissolves very well.

if it doesnt dissolve in a shaker cup, i dont bother with it myself. designer whey would never dissolve without using a blender so i gave up on using it.

optimum, dymatize and true protein dissolve easy and fast for me.

another fan of ON's here.

Buy a stick blender, they work great and are easy to clean, or just pour it into a Gatorade bottle (add most of the water first) then shake it up, no need to buy a special shaker.

Get a blender. Have you considered using fat-free skim milk instead of water? I find it really improves the taste of my protein drinks, plus it adds another 8 grams of protein and some vitamins and minerals.

I use a heaping scoop of powder & a cup of skim milk. Whiz it in the blender for a minute and add 3 or 4 ice cubes, then blend it again until the ice is blended in. It makes it really cold and tastey.
