Will you get arrested for using ephedrine?
i am new to this forum, and i dont mean to sound stupid, but....
i was looking at my local "counties most wanted" website and seen that someone was arrested for having possession of ephedrine. now i am worried, since they banned it, is it considered an illegal drug, like meth or something, or is it only illegal if you use it to make other things? this particular person also was charged with possession of meth and opium. i have been looking for information on this, but cannot find anything that specifically says "YOU WILL GET ARRESTED IN KANSAS IF YOU TAKE EPHEDRINE FOR WEIGHT LOSS"
any information on this would be greatly appreciated, since i bought 2 bottles of stacker 2 before they banned it....i have never used illegal street drugs, nor do i ever intend to, and i would hate to get in trouble for something as innocent as trying to lose a few pounds.
p.s. i am also confused about the difference between ephedra and ephedrine. some things say ephedrine and some say ephedra...is there a difference?

Ephedra is the herb they banned for weight loss. Ephedrine is a pharmaceutical chemical which has not been banned. I wouldn't worry about getting busted for using what you have. That guy you read about was a pinched for some bad-ass drugs, so they tend to throw everything (including the kitchen sink) into the mix when they charged him. It makes for sensational press and good sound bites, but lousy policy because it gives the crooks another way to make money.

Ironman is right - when they raided my friend's house, they charged him with possession of a kitchen sink.
Seriously, though - this brings up the issue of legality vs. decriminalization. Some of the more ignorant politicians try to avoid the pot legalization issue by saying that possession has basically been decriminalized. However, even if the law is rarely enforced, it still can be if you piss off the wrong person. with authority.

If they come into your house and see cannabis on the table, within easy reach of your kid, you will be charged with child abuse and will lose your kid.

That's extreme, but responsible parents shouldn't be smoking pot and raising a kid, we've all tried pot(hell I smoked my fair share), but I know what it's like being on it and I dont want my kid to have an impression of me like that, kids are suppose to be able to look up to their parents as strong and reliable, and someone they can always fall back on or talk to. :

I dont have a bag of weed lying around my house. But being a good parent is not as simple as avoiding smoke.
Do you listen to your kid? Do you teach them lessons about life? I built a massive play area with slide and swing, climbing cargo net for her, planted trees around it, fenced the backyard, built a 600 sq foot deck that she absolutely loves. She has her own computer and lots of educational software. Each day she wakes up and calls for me so I lift her out of her crib and start her day. Every day I am at work at 7:00 but home by 5:00 to accompany her to the park to play with other kids and stress safe street crossing. I drive an hour up the mountain and an hour down the mountain each day to support her and keep mommy a stay at home mother. My kid is bright, articulate and loved. My having a beer or a smoke in no way makes me a bad parent.
I dont fly planes anymore I dont ski I dont do much of anything but provide for them and spend my free time with them.
I think the parent who never imbibes but ignores his kids is a much bigger problem. My kid is NOT in daycare. Somebody else is NOT raising my kid. She is THE most important thing in my life.

Hey LifterMike,
I guess high school session is over for the day I see you posting here.
Gonna answer my challenge to you calling me a bad parent?
Your quite an expert on the subject right? You are self-sufficient, pay all your own bills and are responsible for others financially and emotionally right?
My dad did all that in high school but I am betting you live with dear old mom & dad.
Thats why you feel the need to lecture people doing the very things you have never done ?

I wasn't avoiding your post at all, and I think you misinterpreted my response, I wasn't accusing you of anything at all, and I think your taking my comment way too seriously. I never called you a bad parent, I never instigated anything at you in general, you made assumptions based on what I said and I'm sorry if what I said offended you but I still stand by my comment that a parent shouldn't be smoking weed or at least keeping the habit and influence of it out of their sight. My 2 cents nothing more, nothing less.

Fine. I just yesterday signed a 1 million dollar life insurance policy on myself in order for the girls to have 'no worries' in case I die, after all I spend 2 hours a day on the highway. Thats a responsible parent. When I got home yesterday I held her for 30 minutes because she wanted that and now that she is up she wants me to practice soccer with her. Absolutely drugs/alcohol needs to be out of their site and strongly discouraged. I will be taping about a dozen videos for her in case I pass away. One of those will be about abusing drugs/alcohol and how her peers all around her will be doing it - but dont fall into the trap. I believe if the parents are involved in her life in a big way and she knows she is loved the drugs/alcohol wont be as tempting. But when she is 21 she can do what she wants. If I visit a friend in the mountains on my day off or go skiing and have a smoke on the chair and a beer in the lodge it in no way whatsoever makes me a bad parent. Being a good parent goes way way beyond providing financially. It also requires that you actively do many things, its not simply to passively not smoke or drink. Being a good parent is many things and when I was your age attending St. Edward High school in IL I had no idea what was involved and what was required. The first challenge is to make 100k and still be around the house enough to be in their life. She just took my keys saying she stole them so I wont go to work today, but thats easy because today is saturday.
