Xanax(tranquilizer) question about metabolism.

Will taking Xanax affect my metabolism? I am not in the cutting fat stage, alot to cut, and afraid that the Xanax will counteract my diet. My diet is based around foods and times to keep my metabolism burning calories.

I've never personally seen anything on the effects of a Benzodiazapene on the metabolism's functioning slower or faster but, I do know that when I was on xanax or more often the Klonopin, I just didn't have the energy to do anything. This is probably less to do with the metabolism than it's sedative effects though. I wouldn't worry about it. I would look into the side effects of the SSRI's more. They have more studies showing weight gain effects, sadly. I just work out harder to counter it really.

it slows down your heart rate, which slows down your metabolism

Well might diet is still VERY clean and my calorie mark is perfect so I am wondering really how much it does effect it. Even when I do take one or two I still move around doing things but it just keeps my brain from wondering. I think that might allow my metabolism to still keep churning away. I guess time will tell. I am wondering if it has the same effects on metabolsim as marijuana.

yes marijuana raises metabolism since it raises heart rate, the only reason anyone gains weight on weed is because they might munch out like a motherfocker
