Xenical (orlistat)

The FDA has approved this for OTC use in the US. People seem to think this is the shortcut and magic pill to give them fitness and health while eating what they want.

Wait until they see the laundry.

You can get a prescription with a BMI over 30. I should see if I can get one.......my BMI is 34.

yeah, my point was that they really should be using a better means of determining whether or not to prescribe this "magic pill"

I thought some dietary fats were good. Plus isn't it true that fats you get from eating are easier broken down than the fat the body makes on its own. Isn't that basically going to cause the body to take other means of getting fat? Or even canibalising the body?

Some dietary fats ARE good. Most of the time, I eat more fat than probably anyone here and since I started doing that I've continued to get healthier. I'm not eating as much now, but that's for a specific purpose too.

This drug, in my opinion isn't a good idea. Just like any of the other weight loss drugs. It gives people a false sense of "magic pill" that will let them eat like crap and get slim and healthy.

In the medical community, it's called "greasy fart pills". Try a bottle and you'll understand why.

Now it's over the counter with no prescription needed. What a great idea.

The drug is an absolute load of crap.

I remember learning about it and how weight loss is as little as 7lbs a year.
So basically caffeine could be classed as more effective.

Tell you one thing you would have to be tempted to buy shares for it its going to fly off the shelves. If it used to be prescription it has to be good.

And you know people will eat them like candy as well until the old git effects kick in.

Then when their underpants are loaded with crap, they'll stop using it.

Without fat to control the rate of digestion, one has "anal leakage".

Yeah, north of the border. But down here...it's OTC now.

There is the descretion, however from my experience, a lot of docs tend to over-prescribe things like this.

God forbid they have to tell someone to get off their fat ass and go for a jog, or stop cramming double cheeseburgers down their throats.

I think that alone would keep me from taking it.
