I do. If I sleep for too long, my day ends up being sh*tty because I have no energy. If I don't sleep enough, then I am fine but still have trouble falling asleep the following night. Any advice?

Sleep until you wake up NATURALLY. (not from an alarm clock, not from a banging door, wind, the dude outside mowing his lawn, etc.). When you do wake up on your own, usually that is the right amount of sleep for you, and it's time to get outta bed. Don't try to sleep more because your body probably does not need it...doing so will only screw up your day (as you stated) and possibly interrupt sleeping patterns to come. Just listen to your body and don't try for more or less.

Make sure your room is dark as possible and doors are closed to prevent any noise and light from awaking you prematurely during the course of the night/am hours. This will ensure you have the best quality sleep possible and wake up refreshed.

Also, try to get to bed at (or right around) the same time every night...your body will get used to this and get into a perfect internal pattern, making it easier to sleep.

todd...i dont know about you, but most people work. i myself start at 7:00am, there is no way i would wake up between 5:30 - 6:00 naturally. i do how ever try to get between 8 and 10 hours sleep. perhaps it is a bit much?

the other thing is, i normally wake up 2 times during the night to piss....does interupting sleep screw you up?

I hate that... Every night I wake up at least twice to use the restroom too. I feel as if I could have a much more refreshing sleep if I didn't have to

I think that if you are waking up naturally after 10 hours of sleep, then mabye your body needs 10 hours of sleep. If you go to bed at 8pm and get 10 hours of sleep, it seems like you would wake up naturally at 6am dont you think?

I personally require 7-8 hours of sleep otherwise im sluggish. It seems my body does wake up naturally around 71/2-8 hours on a consistent basis, if I am going to bed on time lol. Otherwise i will hear that damn alarm clock.

How old are you nate? Are you in the middle of puberty? If your not, dont mean to insult ya lol. But during those times when you are growing and changing, your body may require more sleep to make up for those changes. I remember when I was in high school, needing all the sleep I could get. Now im 25, and gettin 7 hours is decent for me, but if I get 6 1/2 im feelin it. Its pretty interesting.
