I think V use's high fat high prot low carb diet.
He has explained this to me, but im no expert but believe that when the body is starved of carbs it finds other energy, this will become fat and the body i believe goes into ketonic state.
V might explian more in detail, but if not my poor explaination will have to do lol.

High fat/low carb all week long then high fat/high carb cheat weekends. When lifting consistantly, it's called the anabolic diet. Works quite effectively for cutting or lean bulking i.e. gaining muscle without gaining fat. Drop the calories to 10 -15/lb for cutting raise them to 16-25/lb for bulking...see some fat stores and drop the cals to burn them off quickly.
Sadly, without consistant lifting and cardio...nothing works to gain muscle or burn fat effectively...dammit.

Can this be done with a 40 40 20 split steady, keep fat to low as possible or must you follow the anabolic diet.

Sure you can follow that kind of split. Or a high carb with something like C-45, P-35, F-20...or change it to whatever type of plan you like. Many great bodies in the past were built on three squares of meat, eggs, and potatoes each day with gallons of whole milk included.
Personally, I'm willing to risk slower muscle gains to do what I believe reduces my own cardiovascular risk factors in my diet by keeping fat gains to a minimum by eating the way I do.
Remember my totally unproven, unscientific theory that since excess glycogen leads to excess insulin and excess storage of saturated fat and cholesterol on and in our bodies...increasing risk of heart attack and stroke. So far, according to my lab work...it's very effective for me at keeping my blood sugar under control, keeping my heart healthy, and with proper exercise...it's a muscle builder. Without it...it's not.

Sort of what you explained to me before, remaining on the ketogenic diet and then upping the cals and carb loading on weekends if I wanted to bulk, safe to say after 4 months of meat, veggies and water I'd like to have pasta and sandwiches 6 out of 7 days of my week . The plan you gave me worked great, just stopped working 3 weeks ago, I'm intensifying my cardio and taking a scoop of whey out, if it's not too much trouble can you look at my progress picture and tell me if I should start a clean bulk, or continue cutting?

I did look earlier but had no chance to comment because work happened. We caught a call just as I was about to press the reply button.
You look great so you can do whatever you like at this point. If you choose to get totally shredded, you can do it the way I described by multiplying your CURRENT body weight x 10 to find your calories for the diet and upping your cardio a bit...or you can do a lean bulker...not I did not say a "clean" bulk because I think you should eat foods you enjoy when you bulk, just not to excess so that you get overly fat while you do it. At this point...the way to go is entirely up to you and your goals. How do you feel when you look in the mirror? You like what you see? Want more muscles and more size NOW...then bulk. Want to see more cuts and striations? Then keep cutting.

I'd like to get minimal ab definition before I bulk, just beacuse I hate cutting and like to put it off for a while. just dont like the flab at the bottom of the belly. So if I'm 150,. I should lower my current intake of 1800 to 1500? I've heard to bump up my cals by 300 to shock my metabolism.

Seems really low doesn't it? But with 60% of calories from fat...it's fine to do that. You want to get totally shredded? No cheat weekends, take your fiber, drink A LOT of water...and watch it happen. Don't do that for more than 8-12 weeks because if you adjust for your weight each week, you could lose 1% of body fat per week and doing it for too long will get you dangerously lean. 3% is BAD.

Hello Pier...Thank you for the Welcome...I am VERY new to these type forums, so bear with me...Usually it is Animal Rescue type things that I belong to, however, I really think I will get along in here with most considering I used to be a VERY large lady myself and have lost a HUGE amount of weight and am going through the training (In Andys care, of course) to get the skin to stay retracted...I had 15 cosmetic surgeries to remove the skin from losing 320 lbs and now I am dealing with the FOURTIES ARE KICKING IN look...OMG, I just CAN'T LIKE THIS...I want the "I KICK ASS LOOK"...and after going through all I have been through to get my body where it is, I want to make it better. Andy is getting me in shape and making me eat which has been a NO NO for the past 3 years...So, I guess he and I are good for one another in more ways than ONE...Have a great evening and I am looking forward to coming in and taking advice and giving some maybe too...

Wow, I'm so behind.
Gastrointeritis = downtime.
Pneumonia = downtime.
MS attack = downtime.
Oh well, back in the gym tomorrow. I've actually been eating enough to recover and maintain a little weight lately...thanks Kimberly.
We'll see what can be done in 2.5 months.
