Short Question About Treadmill
Hey guys, long time i havnt posted:P
Well, i`ve been jogging on my treadmill since last week, and well, i had a question.
What is the best way to burn fat? Im currently Jogging at a constant pace of 8 for 1 hour.
Is it better to jog at speed of 10 for 30 mins? or 8 for 1 hour?
Any other suggestions? Ive got like 14% BF and im weiging 150pounds (68kilograms). Im 21 years old.
I drink a glass of skim milk after every jogging season. I jog about 6 times a week.
Well, thanks alot in advanced^^

I personally would alternate, doing HIIT 3 times a week (but not on consecutive days) and longer steady-state work 2-3 times a week. I believe a mix is best. You'll get different answers, though, and many will disagree with me.
Fat burning really comes down to diet though. What's a typical day of eating like for you? What exactly does each meal consist of.

Ive been out of weight training for a year now..
A year back, i had some really weird nausea and constant headache problems when ever i lifted weights or did abs.. and well, that hasnt gone away.
The only thing i can do, is run.
So.. thats why im only running:S
Well, Anyhow, My current run program is...
EVERYDAY 1 HOUR.
Warmup Start 0;00 - 2:00 mins at 4.5
2:00 - 8:00 at 6.5
8:00 - 30:00 at 7.5
30:00 - 40:00 at 8.5
40:00 - 50:00 at 9.5
50:00 - 60:00 at 10.5
Thats my current running seasion... is that ok? Is it efficient to burn fat off to cut down my Body Fat?
My eating habbits are also stable.. i take oatmeal with milk + 500cc of milk (skimmed) at breakfast. i allways eat something every 2 or 3 hours.
At night, i try to cut down of food.. i try to have some lettuce and a piece of chicken, or whatever there is. No fats..
Well, thats it.. Any Suggestions?
Thanks=D

From the sounds of it your building your intensity up pretty good, which is half the battle, because many do not want to leave their comfort zone.
However, I personally would run intervals.
It all depends on how fast you can run on this treadmill, and how fast the treadmill actually goes.
Try something like:
5 minute warm up
1 minute top speed(sprint)
1 minute light jog
1 minute sprint
1 miinut light jog
1 minute sprint
1 minute light jog
etc
As you adapt, you can change the work to rest ratio
So go sprint for 1 15 seconds
rest for 45 seconds
etc.

to burn fat you must work out yr max heart rate against body weight and age etc
Not sure of the maths, but my max HR is 220 at 46 at 238 lbs and it works out i need to beat at 140 per min to be at opt fat burning zone

Hi
I agree with bodyshop - it's all about the heart rate.
On average, your max heart rate is 220-your age, so for a 21 year old, it's 199.
"Experts" say that to burn fat you need to train at 60%-70% of that. Your treadmill might have a programme that keeps you at that level by automatically adjusting the incline or speed. You'll then need a heart rate strap: polar are the best - something like this http://www.totallyfitness.co.uk/Hear...ies/PO0031.htm.
Personally, I find 60%-70% a bit low and like to mix it up with some higher intensity.
E.

Best way to burn fat is eat "clean".
Cardio should be supplemental to a good nutrition program.

you mentioned that you're not consuming any fat in your diet. if you're trying to lose fat it doesn't mean that you shouldn't be eating any, your body needs it.

primarily mono- and poly- unsaturated fats.... aka EFA's essential faty acids. saturated fats are needed a little in your diet too.......but definately no Trans fat... transfat = garbage

Not sure what goal you are trying to achieve short of burning fat. I see you have the cardio down pretty well, but to really burn fat you should work in a weight training routine.
Weight training has been proven to burn calories for a longer period of time than cardio, not to mention that muscle helps burn fat.
Just a thought!! and yes diet is important... and lots of water intake

This really does not speak of your diet whatsoever. As with any activity to reach a goal, the more activity, the more meticulous your diet needs to be. In other words, the harder you train to reach your goal, the better your diet needs to be. No one can really give you much good advice because we have no clue what your diet looks like. Based upon what little you said about your diet, it does not support what you're trying to do with your running.
Also, get off the treadmill and get on the road. Treadmills serve their purpose but not for all of your running. You can get really good hill work on a treadmill by using the incline. You can get some decent speed work because you can control the speed. However, running on a treadmill is softer than running outside, so when you do run outside, having run on a treadmill exclusively, it can hurt you.
I would ask you what your goal is as far as running is concerned. Once you have a goal, you can tailor your diet around your running to help you achieve that goal.
If your goal is just to lose weight, diet is 90% of it. Shorter, more intense running sessions will help you lose weight. I wouldn't worry so much about distance, although distance running does serve its purpose as well. Just not as much for fat loss. The more a person runs, the more they tend to eat.
Just my two cents.

j2bryson and westside are right, why on earth are you eating no fat that is crazy behavior! You need a certain amount of fat for you body to function : i think it is recommended to have 0.4g per pound of bodyweight at a minimum (not too sure of this number though)
What you should do is : take everything you eat in a day and write it down. Tell us how many calories you have, how many g of fat/protein/carb.
You say you can do no weight training : can you do pushups and other bodyweight only training?

these are people who have no will...no will to educate themselves no will to improve there qualty of life, no will to get fit and get strong and most importantly live long!
you should have a good amount of EFA's daily, mono, polyunsaturated and saturated fats, omega's3-6-9 fatty acid, theres more of them I just not too sure....... I just try to consume all fat other then Transfats, and I watchout for the very high Saturated fatty foods...

I started with interval training, then moved onto the "couch to 5K running program" (which i've re-started recently, after a long period of inactivity).
It's a pretty good plan that slowly goes from interval runs, up to a constant 30m run (or 5k depending if you're using time or distance).
Supplement that with a clean diet - and Bob's you're uncle
