Well if you was up home i would show you lol, but as your back in London ill try to explain.
If you want to stretch, all you should do is pull the muscle to near full extentsion, but a bit at a time until the tissue is warm.
Chest stretch = extend arms behind you, Legs= Lunge, Back=lean over and so on.
Think how the muscle works and then you will know how to stretch it
Now speed training will come with fast bag work. Get with a partner and count punches per minute, Trust me 1 min full blast on a bag will get you puffing.
Try to get more and more punches in within the 60 seconds
Good luck with boxing

Iron boy,
A great fighters workout...

Burpees x10
Pullups x10
Pushups x10
Walking Lunges x10

Repeat for 30 minutes... or however long you can do it.

A couple of days a week do cardio that is geared towards using a great deal of energy over a short time, over and over again...

There a couple of articles in the general fitness section that may interest you.

This kind of training, the HIIT cardio, and now days...crossfit... is what's getting our US rangers and I'm sure your UK commandos into top fighting condition for urban combat.

Remember our own GymGirl from here at DF? She's in Afghanistan right now training some of our US military guys to be level 1 cross fit instructors. How cool is that?

Another thing to think about for a fighter is strength training. Train to get stronger, not necessarily bigger. Size will come from the heavy weight but you've got to be strong and fast...not just big. Train for explosive power and high output endurance. Not marathon or triathlete enduracne, but shorter time endurance where you are expending a lot of energy over a short time.

At best, I'm a mediocre kickboxer and NOT a groundfighter at all. Winning always came from drive to not give up, killer instinct (willing to actually hurt the other guy bad, then go kick his dog when I'm done), and from strength. Those things can carry you through even if your opponent is a better fighter and your mind is in a better place for it than his is at that moment. Even when sparring with a world champion kickboxer who for some reason wanted to hurt me...or a state champion wrestler who wanted to hurt me...and actually had me beaten.

Lots of crunches too my friend...Gotta keep those abs strong.

Is it better for you to train quick jabs or carry-through punches? Sometimes I get really stressed or just need to punch something, so I'll carry my mattress out of my dorm, set it against a wall, and rail it. Even though the primary purpose of the activity isn't physical fitness, I'd appreciate knowing how to maximize the training potential from it. Thanks!

Train it all. Quick jabs get the heart rate up and increase speed. Strong punches work on striking power and when done in quick succession also get the heartrate up... remember the heart is a very important muscle and you need to work it too. You've got to keep your ability to throw many punches without getting winded.

Basically, work on your jab, your straight punch, your hook, and your cross every time you train. Heavy bag work and speed bag work are both vital. One without the other isn't very productive.

Mix them up into different combinations because you never know what striking opportunity will present its self and you need to be able to deliver whatever combination is needed effectively.

This is why sparring is also important. Bags simply don't hit back. If you aren't hitting and being hit...your training is pretty much a waste of time.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a sparring partner, but I might look into it. Thanks, V.

Got any friends in LE? Most of them box. Or just find a boxing gym. If you find one of these you will find a sparring partner with ease.

Boxing will placed high and helps you to get into the best shape even during the training period. And it will not only help to increase your muscular stature but also help you to gain mental strength.
