Wushu

Does anyone do Wushu? I'm looking at becoming a member of Woh's Kung Fu and they offer Wushu, which looks like a lot of fun. I'm just curious if anyone has any experience with it.

It is a great martial art for exhibition and for sport. Training hard will take you to an elite level of fitness.

I prefer san soo which is more like street fighting or hand to hand combat and is not pretty at all.

To me, martial arts training is about protecting myself or others with the simplest, most effective techniques available. I'm too old to be in a long fight so I believe that training should be designed to enable one to disable, incapacitate, or kill an opponent as quickly as possible. And really, most martial arts classes are pretty ineffective for that.

The more complicated the techniques are, the less effective they are in the real world.

Before beginning any type of martial arts training, ask yourself what you want to get out of it. Sport? Self defense? Fitness? Competition? Then choose one that will best suit your goal.

[font=&quot]Wushu is a great martial art with roots dating back thousands of years in China, and it has been recognized as an ancient Asian art for the self-discipline of mind and body.
