Kettlebell Training

Alrighty then...not quite sure where to post this but thought I would do it here since my wife always reminds me I'm over 40.

Anyone done kettlebell training? I need to mix things up and thought this might be a pretty decent option.

Ok so I am not 40... I will be 39 in january... but I just added kettlebells to my workouts and so far I really like them. I take them outside to the park and do a couple different routines. I am a beginner so I really do not have much advice on what to do with them... but I have been working out long enough to know I like them. You probably will too.

what all training does. If you put effort in it it will bring result. This is just another tool to get the job done. I personally enjoy this one together with sandbag training. But that is because I get enormously bored with most gyms. I don't like those machines etc and this way I have a good workout in short time. Driving to a gym would take up more time.

But it all depends on what you want or enjoy. You should do what you like as that way you keep at it, but you have to put effort and hard work into and everything will bring you the result. A magic tool/ exercise or whatsoever does not exist.

Just saw the video, nice one. Good workout, simple and not complicated (I said simple, not easy!!!), I only miss the pushups with the burpees (I skip the jump too, but the pushup should added; is some extra torture too)

Good stuff there Klide.

I saw a 15 pound kettlebell at Walmart but it felt too light. Maybe a 20 pound kettlebell would be better.

The weight that is most of the times started with is 16 kg (think 33 lbs) for males and the 12 kg for woman.

Personally I use most of the times the 24 kg or the 20 kg KB, but they say 16 kg is a good starting point for males and 12 for woman.

I went to Academy yesterday to look at kettlebells. A little more pricey than I wanted them to be. I considered the 20 or 25 lb, but I always have a tendency of over-doing things, so I bought a 30 pound set which included one 5 lb, one 10 lb, and one 15 lb. The set was $30.

I thought it might be smart starting with lower weights like this until I get used to doing the exercises and make sure this is something I will do long term before investing more money into it. The last thing I need to do is start off with a higher weight and make a dumb move and hurt my back again.

Looking forward to my first kettlebell workout.

I don't use them, however there are a few videos of kettlebell workouts here at DF. Firehawk was a KB proponent. DanC uses them and shared a great video of his wife doing a kettlebell routine.

Do a search and check them out. They do seem rather interesting.

My gym purchased some recently. I'd be interested in giving them a go.
