Let's talk fitness then ....

How about a roll call for those out there who land in the over 40 category (or approaching if you want)

How about answering 2 questions:
  1. What's your fitness/sport/recreation history?
  2. What's your primary activity now?

Fourty now, approaching 41.

>1. Weight training, Kung Fu (devolved into kickboxing), triathlon.
>2. Currently, just weight training. Cardio begins next week getting prepped for another triathlon.
>3. When get more equipment in...gloves, heavy bag, speed bag, headgear...kickboxing and grappling begin anew...time to teach the boy.

Just arrived at the young age of 41.

1. karate and some cycling
2. simple work combining KB's, BWE, sandbags and some other fun stuff like grippers etc. When you get a bit different younger (I am now more than twice 20 so I must be very young) is to realise you might need some more rest. Still you can and have to workout hard but you must do it smarter too I guess.
Another great sport I do now (almost like V) is to raise my son. Although he is only 6 weeks old I hope I can point him to the right direction and get him into martial arts and KB and sandbag work in the future (but that really is future talk, first will come the conditioning work by running the whole time after him when he starts walking ).

1. Lazy...Fat...Unmotivated...(no joke)
2. Weight training is all for now but I hear cardio is soon coming up...

I will turn 52 in July.

1: Powerlifting
2: Powerlifting
LOL
I can no longer squat, but will continue to do push/pull meets. I am making my comeback after taking 20 years off. I was getting pretty beat up so decided to take a break from lifting.. bad idea, that break lasted 20 years I .... WAS benching around 220 & deadlifting around 400 @ 132...... now I'm at about half that now @ 155 I'm working my way back down to the 148lb class though. But it is what it is and will just have to bring them back up. I just got to be smart about it. I have already tried to do to much to soon and have had some injurys.

Just found this fourm looks pretty neat!

John

Kind of boring I'm afraid.
1. Recently fit. Lost 45lbs in 2007 and began exercising. Have 80 points of HDCL and according to my cardiologist am fitter than most 30-year olds. I exercise five times a week; about an hour of cardio and weight training.
2. I don't have any regular sports activity. I've never enjoyed sports. There are activities I enjoy like swimming, paddling; water-oriented. But they are not with any regularity. I wouldn't rule out new ones, but I've got a hip joint injury that limits what I can do.

Aside from keeping my doctor happy, I've been depending on a measurement based system for my results. It's based on the proportions of classical Greek sculptures; supposedly an ideal male physical form. I'm pretty close, but lack of javelin-throwing and rowing has my forearms a bit thin. But I can live with that.
I'm very happy with how I look and the high level of energy I have.
