This is going to surprise everyone...

5 mile hike done in about 3.5 hrs. Gonna try to do the hike again during spring break and go further up the mountain. Total climb is 5000 ft and I did about 2000 today.

Baby steps tho... I'm not exactly built like a hiker. In addition, the trailhead is a 4.5/5... one of the hardest in tucson. So I didn't really pick an easy one to start out with.

First workout of this week i had to combine squat and bench... horrible workout so don't want to even mention it.

Today's workout was better... still taking it easy.

Bench: 135 x 10, 185 x 8

Speed 2 board Press: 185 x 3, 205 x 3, 205 x 3, 225 x 3, 225 x 3

Speed 3 board press: 275 x 3, 275 x 3, 305 x 3, 275 x 3, 275 x 3, 275 x 3, 275 x 3 (i think this covers it... not sure may be off by 1 on the sets)

Reverse Grip Bench Press: 135 x 10, 155 x 10, 185 x 10

KB Overhead Press: 70 x 8 both sides (left side was ugly as hell tho), 50 x 12 each side

Tate Presses: 30's x 10

Weird Tricep pushdown thing that i dont know the name of: 9 stack x 12

Yates Rows: 185 x 10, 235 x 10 drop set 135 x 20

Concentration Curls(slow reps): 30's x 8, 30's x 12

Now... some bitch work to keep the shoulders healthy...

Front Raises w/holds at top: 20's x 10
Superset
Side Raises w/holds at top: 15's x 10
Superset
Rear Delt Raises: 10's x 12

Good little workout... got my swole on. Next week going to kick up the volume to get my work capacity up and work on technique.

Speed Deadlifts: 315 x 8 x 3

Glute Ham Raises: 2 x 8, 10 lbs x 1 x 7

Russian Decline Twists: 10lbs x 12, 25 lbs x 8

Side Bends: 95 lbs x 14 each side

Tried to do some shrugs... but trap still feels like it's going to be ripped off. Gonna go to a phsyical therapist soon, this is seriously putting my training behind.

If I gave my workout ratings this one would be about a D. Horrible... but next week will be better.

Raising volume as much as my body can handle. Need to up my capacity, work my technique, and put on some more muscle. Will try to consume about 1.5 times my normal calories so about 5-6 k a day (or as much as I can without making myself sick).

Just a reminder to myself moreso than a journal post...

I will be starting a new journal here pretty soon for a contest I want to do in July. I will document the 12 weeks leading up to the meet. Will get a routine to go pretty soon here.

I'm setting my goals pretty high, but it's about time to man up and put some real numbers up.

Goal for July WNPF (i believe this is the fed) contest...

Bench: 405
Squat: 530
Deadlift: 610

Total: 1550

Gear will be single ply. I am turning 19 in April so I have one year left to try to crack some teen records. If I can hit around these numbers im confident I can take some records down in the next year.

Will compete in the 220 lb weight class... from now on will be trying to bulk till around 230-235 and then will cut water when time comes.

Volume Squat Day

Safety Bar Squats (first time ever): 165 x 5, 165 x 3, 235 x 3, 255 x 3, 265 x 3, 305 x 1 (my partner touched me on way up... which i normally wouldnt count but he said he didnt help), 255 x 3, 255 x 3

Romanian Deadlifts: 135 x 3, 225 x 8, 315 x 6, 365 x 6 (form kinda sucked but good struggle anyways)

KB Swings: 70 lb kb x 12, 50 lb kb's x 12

Suspended Leg Raises: x 12, x 12

Dec Squats: x 8, x 10

Not that much volume now that I think about it... but i was fried near the end... the romanian deadlifts and safety bar squats killed me.

Volume bench day... after only 5 hrs of sleep.

Bench: 275 x 8 x 3

Did this on a crappy bench at my University. Kept sliding, losing my arch, no chalk allowed so grip was slipping, etc.

Push Press: 185 x 7, 185 x 7

Military Press: 135 x 6, 135 x 5 (LOL dead at this point)

BB Bent Over Rows: 205 x 3 x 8 (hands kept slipping... crappy... could have done more reps)

Side Raises: 15's x 8 with holds at top

Front Raises: 22.5's x 7 a side with holds at top

Tate Presses: 30's x 12, 35's x 9

Your numbers look very good darkangel.. enjoy getting "drunk off your ass"

When you 'powerlifters' do squats, do you go ATG or just to parallel?

Few comments...

I got absoluetely no rest... slight case of food poisoning and got sick from some little kids at my work.

Market does have legs... I'm a little baffled at the market direction for the next few weaks but still think market has a downard bias because of volume/other things.

Got out of 1/2 of my google short at 439 (luckily) and if we break today's high im out tomorrow the rest of my shares so I at least keep some of the profits.

Shorted healeys today (HLYS).

Now I just have to wait until the market tells me its direction again, but for now I'm not taking any new positions.

Will workout eventually... gotta get back to health though.

Arbit... I'm gonna start pm'ing you with market stuff... it's too distracting to talk about both subjects in 1 journal.
