Alex's Tough Guy training

I've entered a British event called Tough Guy.

http://www.toughguy.co.uk/tg-whatis.shtml

I'm entering the Winter version as I'm in Peru this summer.

Most of my training is for mass and strength so I have decided to re-visit my goals and up my fitness levels for a fresh challenge.

I have 11 months to go til until this event but looking to also enter various local half marathons and cross country runs in prep. If all goes well in my training maybe I could run the London marathon in April 09.

Anyway for now my focus is on maintaining size and strength with a 3 day program and to start building up distances by running twice a week.

I better get going..........

So do you know ahead of time specifically what you'll be doing? Or is the surprise part of the fun/challenge?

Yes, it's an 8 mile cross country run through streams, woodland and with some steep climbs. Then involves a section called the Slalomn which is 10 or so trips up and down a steep hill (they never confirm how many times you have to do this until the day.

Then onto an assualt course with 19 'obstacles' involving fire, barbed wire, crawling through long concrete pipes filled with gravel, swimming rivers and underwater tunnels. Add to this that the temparture will be between 32-40F and the river temp will be a lot colder it should be a fun morning!

You can view each obstable here; http://www.toughguy.co.uk/c-the-start.shtml
