Amanda, are the squats and lunges still working OK? You mentioned a few posts back that you were having some difficulty with the lower body work. Don't forget there are other exercises with more isolation for the legs like extensions and curls that may be a little easier for you right now.

It may not be necessary, but at least ask the doc if you should be doing exercises that cause the "push" with the intra-abdominal musculature during a compound lift. Of course if you are tired of being pregnant - give it another 5 weeks and squat away. ONLY KIDDING.

But seriously, ask the doc about that...it's likely totally safe but don't take chances now with only 10 weeks to go.

BTW, are we going to race on July 8th?

Your dedication to your good health and your baby's good health are impressive. While doing some reading on fetal devopment for a class I've got to teach, I thought of you today and realized something that you don't even realize that you are really benefiting Julian. You are doing him a bigger kindness than you know. So props to you for that.:

May 3rd

Warm up - 4 min on bike

Well today was a day where I had to talk myself into getting in there. It was a light, easy workout. All on machines today. I find machines soooo easy compared to doing dips, squats, pushups etc.!! At the end of each rep I paused for 2 second contraction to make it a bit more difficult.

Abductor - 50lbs 3 sets 20 reps
Adductor - 50lbs 3 sets 20 reps

Seated Row - 40lbs 3 sets 20 reps

Chest press - 50lbs 3 sets 12 reps - Did the "advanced" move where you press out and bring the bars together at the same time

Hamstring Curl - 60lbs 3 sets 20 reps

and that's it. Every one of those exercises is seated lol. Talk about a lazy day. BUT I'm just happy it wasn't time spent sitting at my desk!

The squats and lunges are OK to do, but they're very tiring. Which is one reason today I took it easy. My legs are still tired from Monday, and all the walking. Plus I work on the third floor and take the stairs everyday. No matter how many times I go up and down! Never seemed like a big deal before, but it does now!

I'll ask about the pushups, but my doctor won't know the answer so I'll ask one of the trainers where I workout. She'll probably know. My doctor's answer to every question on exercises is "Did you read the handout I gave you on exercise?". Not very helpful.

Oh and I've considered the squat thing when I'm closer to my due date lol. I'm getting tired of being big now, by then I'll really be tired of it. Don't think my doctor would approve though!

Race on July 8th?? My prego brain is not following

Oh, and thanks for the info that you passed on! DH was happy to hear it lol.

Due date July 9th. You've been a runner. I'm learning to run. You run on the 8th/post your time. I run on the 8th/post my time. Only race I'll ever win in my life...or the most embarrassing day ever.

May 5th

Warmup - Tiger moves 10 reps light intensity

50 Squats - wide stance with toes pointed
20 Pushups
50 Furey Squats
15 Atlas pushups

Lots, and lots of stretching.
Wednesdays workout felt like an easy no effort one, but I'm still sore! In fact I'm more sore today than yesterday :? Particularly my Hamstrings, adductors, and pecs.
So I kept todays workout short. It did take a long time though because of all the stretching I did.

Do you have a sauna/steam room at your gym? Sometimes I spend 5 minutes in there to loosen up before stretching. It makes my muscles a little more pliable.

Pregnancy is supposed to make you more flexible anyways. I don't know that saunas or steam rooms are a good idea at this point (get a professional opinion, IMO).

Just thinking about 20 pushups at your stage makes my lower back ache! Are you getting much range of motion with them?

Nice dedication girl!

Good point. I doubt you want to risk dehydration when you're at any stage of pregnancy. My goof!

I know you meant well. Amanda doesn't actually come off like the typical pregnant lady following outdated, self-imposed limitations so it's easy to forget. There are still smart boundaries to be considered though.
