Pull ups are over hand grip, chin ups are underhand grip.

According to exrx.com

Chin up
Step up and grasp bar with an overhand wide grip.
Pull body up until the chin is above the bar. Lower body until arms and shoulders are fully extended. Repeat.

Pullup
Step up and grasp bar with an wide overhand grip.
Pull body up until neck reaches the height of the hands. Lower body until arms and shoulders are fully extended. Repeat.

I always thought a pullup with underhanded and a chinup was overhand but apparently I was way wrong

Hmmm

perinni is correct about gcs being correct.

One thing though - don't sweat it over getting the wide grip right away. Just work on doing them, close - medium - wide - no matter really. They all make the back stronger. Wider does make it a bit harder - you can worry about that later. When I add new weight, I always move my grip closer then as I work my way up the reps, move the grip out a bit. Todd - who none of us can say anything unkind about his lats - told me that getting the grip wide isn't important - just do them.

Well I am unbelievably sore from yesterday. My legs are pretty normal sore, but the hamstrings are more so than usual. Probably due to getting the deadlifts in for a change. But from those chinups my lats, and shoulders are very very store.

June 1st.

I headed outside for a run today. Which was not a good idea, considering I went at 2:00pm and I don't like the heat! So needless to say I wasn't running the whole time. I'd say it'd average out half the time was running, and half was walking. When I got back I felt like crap!! Won't make that mistake again! Not to mention my asthma is being bothersome the past week or so, and the heat doesn't make it any easier for me to breath!

I stayed active on my time off from work. I ran the first week 4 days. It was so nice to get outside to run! All those runs were either early, or mid-morning. I also did a lot of pushups, situps, chinups. The 2nd week not so good. I did pushups, and situps everyday but only got out running once. My asthma is acting up all of a sudden, and I don't have a puffer so I have to be real careful when running outside. I really don't need to have an asthma attack when no one is around!

I found out exactly how bad that can be this weekend. I was running in Phoenix when the temperature was 85 degrees at 8AM! The sun was beating down and it only kept getting hotter. I felt like I was going to burst into flames. The things we do in the name of a 6-pack

No you don't. Do you see a Dr. regularly? If so, an albuterol inhaler isn't very expensive. Most of them have a box full of sample inhalers to give out for free. Good thing to have available if you are prone to have asthma attacks this time of year. They do seem to be worse for people while out in all the fresh pollen right now.

A good second choice is the primatine mist inhalers you can get OTC at the pharmacy. They have inhalable epinephrine in a saline base. Also very effective - just more expensive than the prescription albuterol. And should be used more cautiously because they are slightly more likely to cause tachycardia.

Yea, it looks like I'll have to go get my puffers. They're not that expensive with my benefits they're only about 20 for both of them. I just hate taking any form of medication so I always put it off, but I had trouble getting to sleep last night because of it so it's time to get the puffers
