Yeah, if you need calories, keep some peanuts or something with you. You can just snack on a handful at a time.

jerky, for my money!

i'd go with a nice home-made trail mix - you can mix up a sweet version (nuts, seeds, dried fruit) or a savoury version (mix nuts, seeds, jerky bits, organic whole-grain cereal, toss in a cajun seasoning mix, and toast in the oven).

hell, make 'em both!

100% control over the ingredients.

Haven't stopped in for a while - looks like you turned a corner on that bench. We older guys just need a little more time to move those numbers along.

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah, I keep the nuts and peanut butter in the locker. I take a couple of bananas along to work each day when I pack my cooler too. They don't survive well being left in the glove compartment of an ambulance for busy times - they are unpredictable and I can't always make it back to the cooler or the office. I don't know why I didn't think of jerky - that's a good idea. This time of year, I'm making deer jerky for everybody around here - I could make some for myself too.

Klinger, thanks for your kind input that feels good to hear.

Long day. Had to teach a 10 hour class. Ate lots of turkey on whole wheat sandwiches. Missed both workouts. Got a busy day ahead of me tomorrow getting back on schedule. Didn't get enough water today though. I'm trying to catch up now.

It was cheat meal after it was all over. My little girl and I went out to El Alazan and ate...well, I don't know what I had - little strips of steak, seasoned to perfection with mexican seasonings...so perfect that I didn't even have to add any hot sauce to it. It's a new menu item being added next month and since I eat there all the time and only have grilled chicken taco salad - hold the chips and shell - add extra hot sauce. They brought it out for me to try.

This sucks.

Thanks. I already do feel some better. Still not really up to eating much but making myself eat anyway. Not worrying about nutrient content or calories today. Just trying to get whatever I can into the body. I'll call it a refeed day.

I think by tomorrow I should be able to workout again, and I want to have some fuel in the tank to work from.

hey, thanks for the kind wishes. Today wasn't bad. Still a little nauseated with some diarrhea. Still slightly dehydrated, but I've been drinking everything I can hold. Eating all I can manage too. All things considered, that makes today's workout a good one. Lost a bit of ground on some areas, but gained some on others. Either way, I'm happy with it.

And the good news is...

Well, no general chat. So I'm sharing my good news here. I'm just so happy that I had to tell someone. My days of messing around with 2nd rate weights are about over. Hoooaaa.

My 16 year old managed to tear the transmissions out of the Volvo and the Explorer. Bad news. I got the Volvo fixed, but the Explorer was going to be a bit more complicated. Finally I saved up the money needed to have the tranny rebuilt. Then today, I found someone else to rebuild it and give a better written guarantee than I was going to get...saving me $600.00.

My wife was so happy with the savings that she said, "let's head out in the morning after our workouts and go get you some new olympic weights". Besides she's extra happy that she's getting her Explorer back by the end of the week. I may even get the custom pipes for my little nissan "hot rod suprise" I've been working on for the last year that I need.

OK, that's all.
