Went to LOOK at new bikes today. Came home with one. Went for a little 12 mile ride, took it easy getting used to the bike. 16mph average speed - the ride took exactly 45 minutes. It was pretty sweet - easy on the hills, handles well. The only problem is once I got the saddle height adjusted for my legs - I can't reach the ground when it's time to stop. Rides really great though.

Answered the pullup/burpee challenge from Jason, Tim, and pierini. The pullups were a breeze, the pushup in the middle of the burpee was a nice rest. In spite of resting while doing pullups and pushpus, the burpees kicked my butt.
My results should encourage you other guys when you see how much fitter YOU are. They showed me how unfit I am.

Pullups x5/Burpushupee x10 = 12 rounds in 20 minutes.
Almost got 13, but had only finished 7 of my last set of burpushupees when my wife called time. I did the last three anyway, but won't count the last round because the rules called for "how many can you do in 20 minutes", not 20 minutes and 26 seconds.

Also, about counting them. I started out getting them quickly - each round was less than one minute, pullups were chest to bar and burpees were finishing with palms slapping the 9' ceiling. At the end, the pullups were still good, but the burpees were somewhat less...I'm thinking that maximum air on the burpees was maybe a 6" jump at the best. Wife said a foot but I don't think I had it in me to make a foot at the end.

Great job Andy! You are fit despite what you think.

I have no idea how I will do and, quite frankly, I'm dreading Monday.

I've thought that the pullups would be my resting point, and it did cross my mind that there might be some resting opportunity in the pushup, but it's the explosive jump of the burpee that takes the energy away, like a tire gone flat.

Rest up and enjoy the rest of your weekend, and be strong for your Monday OLAD workout.

That jump just sucks all the wind from the sails - at least for me it does.

I was going to go for a bike ride this evening, but I've got one little girl who said she needs to go fishing. Guess what I'm choosing? I went and bought a new reel to replace the last one she broke. She did break it on a large bass - so it's totally excusable.

Besides, I'm already too sore for a bike ride. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. Best wishes to you guys for monday.: And enjoy tomorrow - I'm hopefully going to spend a day resting at work.

Hey, I'll be fortunate to get to 12 rounds, or even Tim's 11+. Burpees are very hard.

You've set a high bar for me. Now I wish I wouldn't have sneaked a peak at your results.

Thanks, maybe I did better than I thought. Now to be completely fair, on the latter sets - I wasn't getting much air on the burpees. I was getting all I could though. You can't really compare getting 12 inches to someone getting 24. Perhaps the effort is the same, but the results aren't.

Back ot OLAD. Bad day
MP - total failure. Got the warmup and acclimation sets then spent 30 minutes failing to get past 3 reps with each successively lighter weight.

No sleep and poor diet yesterday and last night may have contributed. I'll eat better today and hopefully sleep tonight and try again tomorrow. I'm starting over at 115.

Burpees

12 rds! I'm shooting for 10. And like you said, you can only give what you got on the jumps in late rds. Nice job.

Still figuring out the site, so if you got this twice, sorry.

Congrats to Andy on having the highest round total (so far). Twelve is the number to beat, JDR. Tim beat me by half a round. He's turned into quite the beast in the last few months.

Cardio
Cycling.....20 miles
Added another mile to my route with one mean hill a 1/2 mile ride from the powerhouse to the top of the dam.

Nutrition
Cal-3094, P-282g (38%), C-224g (28%), F-116g (35%)
Carb re-load day = higher than usual calories. Two sweet potatoes today. I messed up and took a dextrose shake BEFORE the bike ride in addition to after too.

Comments
Anothe crappy day in the gym. I didn't eat enough during my week off. I have a hard enough time eating enough of the right foods anyway. When not lifting - it's extra hard. My last are still so sore from saturday that I'm still having a hard time moving my arms - especially overhead. OK, so I've lost a bit of delt strength - I'll keep working on it.

Here's my belated congrats on your pullup/burpee torture challenge performance. Hope we do these little fun challenges periodically for fun. I think the "Tim" WOD would be a fun one to do next.

Have a great day!

pierini, I would love to do it again. However, until I'm more fit I'll have to time things a bit differently. Next time I'll need to do it last day before a week off - not right before starting lifting again.

Perhaps someday I'll develop the intelligence to know when to pull the pin too. I pushed farther and harder than I was able to recover from in a reasonable time. I know - not a contest - just fun. However, I make everything a contest against myself and my sissified desire to quit.
