Ahhh - the old squat thrust/burpee routine. I had forgotten about those. Warmups in the dojo all those years ago - I never knew what they were called though. 15 minutes of those are awesome fatburners. I just might add those in along with the cardioglide when it is time to burn fat agian. Thanks for the reminder. I'll think of you while vomiting.

Chest
Flat bench - 195x1
This was with the creatine completely out of my system. I've not been taking it this week since I'm not doing a complete workout.
I did my usual warmup/acclimation routine then went 160, 180 x1. Tried 200 and failed. Dropped back to 195 and made it. I would have tried the 200 again, but without a spotter I didn't want to risk having to roll the bar off of my body again. Hurts too much just after it goes below the waist before it gets onto the legs. According to the calculation I'm supposed to be able to get 197x1. I really thought I would get 200 though. I'll get there sometime
Diet today has been chicken breast, egg whites, oatmeal. Protein shake, dextrose drink. I see more chicken breasts and some baked potatoes or salads in my future for the rest of the day at least.
I've been thinking last night and today that since I've not really been working out this week - just testing my 1RM lifts and quitting after that, I could count this as my week off and start back with my regular routine starting day after tomorrow. I haven't done a real workout since 4/27 so I've had enough time to recover from the last few months of regular lifting, I think. I feel pretty rested already and don't want to lose anything by doing nothing for a week.
Totals for the week:
Squat.....250
BB curl...150
Shrug.....320
DL........300
Bench.....195
Not much, but now at least I know where I am at. Now I know where I have to go and my goals can be more defined.

Don't worry about not getting 200, it could be the diet and lack of creatine or, just a less 'strong' day. We all get them. Enjoy the time off, don't worry even one ounce about the weights until you are actually back in on your routine. The mental part of the game needs a rest too.

Andy, I think I have figured out why you are excellent on the pull-up bar. It is your bicep strength. Relatively speaking, your barbell curl performance is significantly higher than your bench press performance. Maybe I need to work my biceps harder if I want to improve on my pull-up count single rep max.
In a perfect world, our pushing strength should be in balance with our pulling strength. In my world, my pulling strength is better than my pushing strength. It looks like that is also the case with you.
Have a good day!

That could be it. Now I need to work on my pushing ability I guess. I've done a lot of pulling in my life, because of the kind of work I do. Lifting people on stretchers - or from the floor in strange positions, pulling them from wrecks - things like that. I've done that for 15 years - without the workouts. So that would likely account for the pulling ability that exceeds my other strength and my size.

Luke - It was back against the wall so I couldn't cheat. That's why when I failed at my attempt at 155 it hurt my thighs so bad - the weight just dropped and slammed into them - I had no ROM in my back to cheat and stop it. I did end up with matching bruises right and left to show for the effort though.
And firehawk - Looking at the pic I saw of J, I will NEVER be able to compete with him on any lift.

I never seen anyone with 15" arms curl 150 lbs lol, that's why I said that. You are the first. I'm amazed. Nice job :
I don't even know if I could swing 150 lbs up with my biceps... lol

Xhale - Nope - I used to be pretty big - but it was ALL fat. There is nothing hulkish about me -- yet. Now I'm just a little guy.
The odd thing with the small arms and the bicep strength - I think some of that may be genetic. My dad always had smaller arms than I have and when passing materials up onto a roof (when I worked with him as a kid) - I would struggle to put a 90lb roll of flashing up to where he could reach it - he would then "curl" it from below the roof line to his chest or onto his shoulder (one in each hand) and then on up to where we were working he would go. Lifted it like it was nothing. He could also take one from the ground in each hand and lift it over his head to arms fully extended to put it up to where he needed it to be. I can't even come close to one handing 90 lb in a curl or over my head.
Another little guy I knew once a very skinny dude. We were going to change a tire on a '77 grand prix and didn't have a jack. All we had was some blocks. He said, I'll pick it up and you stick the blocks under it. While I was still laughing at him for saying he would pick it up - he was saying, get the blocks under there, I can't hold this thing all day. It was a back tire, but still....

Can't get satisfied - got to keep that drive to improve. Especially after today.
Went to work, got really busy. Breakfast was at 11:00 - ate clean though. Chicken breast, salad, plain baked potato. Then didn't get a chance to eat again until 21:00 - refried beans, spanish rice, enchalada, tamale (both with beef) and a whole basket of tortillas with jabenero sauce. Kind of blew the clean eating with that one. Now, I'm sitting here hoping that nothing happens for at least a couple of hours - I'm as full as a tick.

Well, today and tomorrow finish off my off time. I was all fired up and ready to hit the gym again a few days ago, then day before yesterday, we had several very large patients to lift. So close after the max DL day it left my shoulders way too sore to do much so I just decided to go ahead and take off until the 11th to make sure everything is totally rested. I feel pretty good today and it is going to be hard to stay out of the gym, but I've got plenty of stuff around here that needs to be done so I will be able to stay busy today.
Eating has been clean - I hope I'm not losing any LBM from the off time though - I have lost some weight and my abs are showing a bit better - probably not the best thing to have happen when I need to bulk.
If there is time at the end of the day, I may go for a walk this evening.

You shouldn't be losing any weight on a bulk, especially with creatine! EAT MORE!!
