OK, next week - I'm on it.

This is going to be a hard week though. While working on my tree problem, I caught myself cutting logs into 12 - 24" diameter sections about 10' long and playing strongman when I should have been working, dragging them around, doing the "mill carry", crap like that.

After about 6 of those I got a little smarter, remembered I'm supposed to be resting, and started using my truck and a log chain.

Then I caught myself one in each hand hand tossing 18" long pieces into the "to be split later" pile.

Perhaps my wife is right, my weight training has progressed into mental illness.

I know I'm supposed to be taking it easy this week - and my kids won't give me back the key to my gym.

So today, although diet wasn't the very best it could be I did get some exercise.

Run chainsaw for 30 minutes (out of gas in about 30 min each time). Drag brush, drag logs, throw 18" pieces cut into firewood onto splitting pile for about 30 minutes (didn't get in a hurry). Refill saw with gas, sharpen saw, drink water.

Repeat for 10 hours. Break for tuna on salad at 12:00 for 20 minutes, again at 4:00 for 20 minutes.

That was pretty much my day today and will be the same tomorrow.

Yes, but I will need more firewood for the winter. I would be cutting it anyway. This time, I'm being paid $1500.00 to cut my own (a once in a lifetime treat I hope). Need to get it done and the mess out of my yard.

See the house under the tree? It's mine. My insurance company is paying for all the damages, all the repairs, all the tree removal, brush chipping, and so on. I hired myself for the job.

My house is only 45' long, 25' wide and 22' high at the peak - the tree went back 20 feet across the roof, covered the entire width of the house, hung to the ground on both sides and went out almost 15' away on one side and over 8' on the other. See my carport on the bottom, right side of the pic? Never mind you can't because it's completely flat. Along with both of my mowers. I managed to crawl under and get out my saws they were between the mowers and survived - so did my gas cans - but it took a whole day with a borrowed gas can to get to them.

Sure it was - no one got hurt. Besides the house is 85 years old, build of oak and locust - very seasoned by now. If we had torn it down 5 years ago like we had planned and built a new one, instead of refurbishing/remodeling like we did instead - we would probably be houseless now. I don't thing a new house made of pine studs would have survived. In fact a new house a couple of miles from us and a new doublewide had much smaller trees hit them at the same time (really big wind, possibly a small microburst or tornado) and they are flat now.

Today is 5 days I haven't stepped into the gym. I feel pretty rested. I don't know if I should get back in on the 4th, 5th,6th or just wait until the 8th (after seeing the doc). That is my 1st day off after the next day I have to work. I've spent the days out of the gym staying active, running a chainsaw, carrying logs, tossing firewood. I have taken it easy though. I work a bit, rest a bit, work some more, rest some more. To bed early. Calorie intake has been limited more than usual. Not intentionally, just the way it worked out. I hope I haven't lost too much muscle. Is 9 days off too much? Maybe I should just get my butt back in the gym tomorrow. I still feel weak, but I don't think I'm currently overtrained - this is 5 days off after all.

Opinions, advice?
