I can't bench that way because of my elbows, so I need to do it "bodybuilder" style and I rarely ever touch my chest because I think it will produce the same effect of what you mentioned...

I was waiting for someone to bring up the bench press.. It's not the same movement. One your vertical, the other your horizontal, so the movement is not even close.
BUT, bench pressing is not a natural body movement and benching is dangerous on the shoulders, no doubt about that.
Oh so when you bench you don't touch your chest? WTF? lol You ain't benchin 275 x 6 then if u aint bringing it to your chest man. I can pin press 295 for 10 from about 6-8 inches off my chest brother. lol Even stopping 1 inch off the chest makes it way easier. One inch is a HUGE difference benching.

Let's put it this way, I don't touch but it is damn close, basically as far down as feels comfortable before I feel my shoulder joint ripping apart. I am happy with my chest development, and as you know I am very injury prone, so I need to be very careful

ranger, you're dealing with big lift connaisseurs here, thats the only reason anyone would give you a hard time about not touching your chest. If it hurts to go all the way down, don't do it, or build up to it with lower weight. No bouncing either!
I routinely yell at my lifting partner, mid-rep, if he doesn't go all the way down.

If you aren't training for a competition, then I really don't see the point of going all the way down. Why make an unnatural movement even more unnatural than it already is?
Besides, that's what the db press is for--those you can more safely take down lower.

Touching your chest is how you do the exercise, that's why he's getting a hard time, not cuz anyone here is a "connaisseur" (lol good word choice). But anyway, if you can't touch without pain, check the ego and lighten the weight. The few inches on and above the chest is the hardest part, you can't cut it out and tell people what you bench without telling them that. Doing that as some sort of crazy bodybuilding thing might be different, but as far as numbers and actual benching though, you gotta touch.

You know, I think i'm just gonna tell people that i can deadlift what i rack pull (565).
You know, i can't beileve this stuff is even allowed to be posted on these boards. All it does is give beginners the wrong impression. What the hell is that? If you gonna list your workouts then note how faryou go down, dont call it a bench press because it's not a bench press, just like a rack pull is not a deadlift, and just like squatting half way down, or with yoru back parallel to the ground, is not a squat.
Pressing like you are doing is not called a bench press. There's many variations and there are names for them, such as J.M Presses, floor presses, pin/rack presses, etc etc etc. Pulling the weight down to anything other than to your chest is NOT a bench press bro.
Not to get on you personally, but just generally speaking, this crap should not even be allowed on these forusm because it sends the wrong signals to newbies.

Back
CDL.....260x3x4
BOR.....180x3x4
P/U.....BWx5x10
Decided to go easier today on CDL - no pain, no injuries. Same weight as last week, just did 3x4. Made sure form was perfect going up and down.
On my BOR today, I really felt it, unlike ever before - I don't know exactly what the difference is - perhaps because I haven't done them in a while, maybe because I was doing something wrong? At the top of the movement, I could feel the inside of the lower part of the traps really squeezing together and the inferior of the lats were really contracted hard. I was feeling a bit of the superior lateral obliques getting into the movement too - holding the body stabilized into position. I don't know if this is exactly right or not - but I felt like I really hit the lats the best ever today. Even the pullups doing 5 sets of 10 instead of working to failure on each set really hit the superior lats harder than usual.
All in all, today's workout felt great - even though the weights were pretty light - so be it if that's what it takes to safely work the targeted muscles.
Cardio - none planned for today.
Diet
M1.....4 oz Round Steak, 2 whole eggs
M2.....Preworkout 20g protein, 5g creatine shake
M3.....Postworkout 20g protein, 32g dextrose, 5g creatine shake
M4.....30 minutes postworkout tuna on salad
Planned for the rest of the day:
More tuna, some chicken, all on salads. Perhaps this evening another 4 oz of round steak and a big plate of broccoli.

Here's a quick boost for ya. I used your progress over the last 2 years as an example of how anyone has the potential to achieve an extremely high level of fitness and a desirable physique with the necessary determination. I'm sure you're getting sick of me by now for asking, but I can't wait to see those before and afters.

Desireable physique? I don't think so. Determination? There is really no choice there. I will never have the strength of some of you or the physical appearance of others. But, I'll keep going. Sometimes it feels like I've got to cut the weight back and start over and that's what I do - that's just the way it has to be for me.
The pics? They are coming on the 25th of this month. They will not be impressive, but they can be a good guide to show me where I need to go from here. That's why they are called progress pics.

Andy, we have something in common, we have a hard time accepting a compliment and we are awefully hard on ourselves, most of the time.
So along with our pursuit of physcial fitness, we need to develop ourselves in other ways as well. Like not letting that little demon pop his ugly head out and rob us of moments to bask in our successes, how little they may be.
