Bearbait's training log


I thought that I would start a workout log to keep me motivated for 2007. My current stats are that I'm 33, 5'10", and weight 220. Some of my short term goals are to deadlift 495lbs, get my shirted bench over 400 again and get my weight down to 200lbs.
My first workout of 07.


Deadlifts- 1x2 340
8x3 275 90 sec. rest between sets

Underhand grip pulldowns- 3x8 not sure on the weight really old machine.

Bent over rows-3x8 135 I haven't done these in years, I usually do t-bar rows.

Arched back good mornings-3x8 135 First time I have ever done these, I loved them wanted to use more weight but I took it easy for the first time.

Stiff leg deadlifts- 3x8 225

Stairmaster for 25 minutes. I hate cardio.

Jan.3/07 Didn't have much time to train today.

Flat bench 3x8-225
Incline db 3x10-70
Bent arm pull overs 3x10-80
tricep press downs 3x20-60
I'm on nights now so I'll train on Saturday.

Standing BB presses-1x10-95, 1x8-115, 1x6-135
Upright rows-3x8
Circuit of side laterals, bb front raises and bent over laterals
BB curls-3x8-45 plates on ez curl bar I don't know how much the bar weights
Hammer curls-2x10-35s
Stair master-25 min.

Hey Bearbait,

You and I are aprox. the same weight and height, but I don't think I'm quite as strong. I am wanting to loose some fat too. I'm currently 216lbs @ 24% BF.

I'll be watching your journal too see how you are gong about loosing the weight. Perhaps I'll pick up a few tips

I hope to start competing this year again. My shoulder is getting better but is taking alot of time it still isn't 100%. I have started training my deadlift and squat harder and I might do a three lift this year. I will probably bench more than I squat, pretty sad, eh.

My plan is to start doing cardio, I've been a lazy boy when it comes to cardio. I'm also cleaning up my diet, I really let myself go over the last 4 or 5 months. Good luck to you in reaching your goals.

Squats-1x10-135,1x8-225,1x5-275,2x2-295,1x10-225
Bench-1x15-135,1x6-225,1x4-275,2x5-315 off 3 boards,1x12-225

I have never gone this heavy on squats before felt good. I used my belt on all sets over 225. The 315 on the boards is the heaviest I have gone on bench since I hurt my shoulder, not to much pain.

Workouts look pretty good bear. You said you wanted to get back into competing...what happened before when you had to stop? Previous meet totals? Keep up the good work :

Thanks GCS. I hurt my right right shoulder about 6 months ago and it is starting to come around now. I have only done bench only contests and the best bench in a meet was 385 and 405 in the gym with a shirt. I started training my dead and squat more now so I might do a 3 lift this year.

I'd say that's a pretty good bench. All your lifts look good so far, and good luck with the competition if you have the option. I'm still recovering from a hamstring injury or else I probably would have done my first meet last year.

Bench 3-boards-----4x5-315
CG Bench-----------1x8-205, 1x5-225, 1x7-245
Skull Crushers-------3x8-25lb plates on ez curl bar
3 circuits of Lateral raises, front raises and reverse laterals on pec deck
15 minutes on Stairmaster and 30 mins shoveling the foot of snow we got.
Shoulder has been feeling good lately I might do a bench only contest next Month if things go good. I can't tell my Wife I bought another bench shirt off of E-bay last night.

Nice workouts Bear..........you should think about doing the CPU Westerns this year.

I have no idea where they're at this year though.......might be BC, which would be a bit of a hike for you....lol
