Best Dumbells??

I am just getting into weightlifting and am considering purchasing a dumbell set. My work schedule does not allow me to attend the gym on a regular and consistent basis so I am going to start working out at home. Any suggestions on a good set of dumbells to buy? Thanks..

Buy free weight so you can add, subtract weight, wrong place to post though.

To be honest, I like permament dumbells because free weight dumbells are impossible to toss up with your legs while doing incline and shoulder presses. (Having a 1 or 2 inch bar on a 100 lb dumbell stuck into my lower thigh while tossing them up is not my idea of comfort)

Alas, a good dumbell set like this costs thousands of dollars.

So a good alternative may be dumbell hooks like this:

I've thought about trying them. Has any one given them a go?
