An interesting discussion.
So does that mean that taking insulin encourages diabetics to eat higher carb diets, when they could stay away from the insulin and regulate their condition with diet alone?
I don't know very much about diabetes.

MM - Carbs are what diabetics use to calculate how much blood sugar will be entering the body after a meal. Protien and fats don't contribute as much. If they eat 200 calories in carbs then they need to take enough insulin to bring the blood sugar level back to normal. This is not an instantaneous thing, it takes hours.
BTW: Hypoglycemics are the opposite. Keep eating to keep enough blood sugar in thier system.

Crossfit on the beach tonight. (Thankfully no shoulder loading movements.) The WOD sucked anyways.
warmup was a 400m run, 20 bench(box) jumps, 15 pushups, 10 squats
WOD
Quote:
for time
5 x:
100 BW squats
400m run
|
Time: 30:55 (edited to the correct time - dyslexia must be a WOD side effect)
It was nice to get a good group cooldown afterwards.
I was really focusing on good squat form, low and staying on heels. It paid off as it did not go unnoticed even though I was the last finished. I eneded up pacing myself in 5-10 rep groups and then resting for a couple of hard breathes. After the round 2 run I was getting nausated, but got it under control again.
I also felt better about the weekend workout. One of the other people there said she stopped after 3 rounds (5 were rx-ed). I thought she had finished with the others.

Hi Brat, great job on completing the WOD's :
Its the mental toughness thats half the battle. And that is
what will get your times to drop on the WOD's.
Once again great job!!!!!

That is a GREAT performance on that WOD Brat.
I'm betting that your legs will be packing some DOMS today.

Thanks everyone.
Yes the DOMS snuck up again, a good 24 hours after. They are hurting bad right now.
-----------------------
I bought some 1 1/4" ABS plumbing pipe at Home Depot yesterday to make a pair of parallelettes. The darn stuff cost $27 and I'm not doing the T base to it! That would have cost an additional $19. It's the same price as buying them off the internet minus the shipping and duty.
Pierre at Crossfit asked me to make up a few styles of sandbag bags too. This should be fun. He said the army duffles don't hold up to constant use.
Last time I was at CCF at the beach we saw another franchise of army "bootcamp" style training going on. It's called Soldiers of Fitness. (Canadian only so far) Now I see where the "cult" label to crosstraining is coming from. I expect to see a lot more franchise opportunites in bootcamp and crosstraining cropping up. It's the new "Curves". Hey where's that DF guy who was asking about what kind of franchise opp to get into....

More Crossfit yesterday. No one had a watch so there is no time to report.
WOD
5 rounds of: - 25 OH squat(BW)
- 25 PU
- 25 SU
- ~150m sprint
I'm sure this was less than 25 minutes. I did my first set of PU all on toes which made me happy.
We then worked on plank variations (lifting from the ground with arms outstretched) and also on pistols. Had a good discussion on diet and the importance of a strong core for women (2 other ladies were present)

Here's the vid from the 500 Squat/2 m sprint WOD June 7. It's not too interesting to watch but I know now that I get way more action out of my arms when squating than others do.
Today I did a 2km dog walk to the park and back. Stopped for 3 sets of pullups/ jumping pullups on the monkey bars.

I watched the entire video. It is always fun to watch someone else in misery.
So I guess I am in the mouthing off mood today. I thought your squat form was excellent, but you run like an old lady.

LOL - You read what was on my mind that day! When I heard 500 squats I challenged myself to do them all in as perfect form as I could with full ROM as possible. Full ROM squats are harder than running to me.
I may look like Methuselah running, barefoot, on hilly sand and pants that are too long, but I can tell you I see an improvement since the first hill running video!
If you look closely you can actually see me sucking wind hard as I switch to squats again.
