Wow I've had a crappy weekend laid up with a sinus cold. I've been too drippy an sneezy to go anywhere. Tonight is the first time I've felt even close to being myself again (Awww, thank you ASA and codeine!) Life's gone bad for me - I never get sick this often in one year and especially not in the summer!
Crossfit tomorrow. This week I aim for 3 CF workouts.
I'm going to a middle-aged, artsy-fartsy tapestry making workshop next weekend so there won't be time for CF then.

Hope you start feeling better Brat. Would you like one or two tablespoons of Geritol?
I guess you can count the middle-aged, artsy-fartsy tapestry making workout as a light cardio day. All them middle-age women sitting on their behinds all day is probably going to generate some serious butt-odor in that room. Put a crack in the window for safety.

WU
- 600m run
-15 PU
-15 SQ
-10 PLU
-15 SU
WOD
With 45lbs (subbed 30#) perform 1 rep of each of the following as many times as possible in 20 minutes. - Clean
- Shoulder Press
- Push Press
- Thruster
- Jerk
42 reps total
*my son did it as rx-ed, his first time doing some of these exercises. Ah youth! He's complaining because he got in at 4 am and only woke up 45 min before we started the WOD yet he's having so much fun that he's ready to go workout CF style every day!
Been busy with work commitments so I didn't get my 3rd CF workout in last week as planned.

Hi Brat,
At some point, our boys become our sons as you so described later on in your post.
Youth is great but what I notice is that these youths sure yawn alot. I was talking to a 19 year old young man who accompanied a repairman who was servicing my whole-house fan. This young 19 year old was talking about how he was about to turn 20 to which I replied that was how old the wart on my behind was.

Ha ha, my son met Pukie today and Pierre made him finish the workout when he was done tossing his cookies!
That's my boy!

ooooh man your poor son! Pierre sounds like a slave driver! did you guys find a new CF home yet? I think I read something on the CF boards about Pierre and his partner parting ways. Maybe you posted about it here too, sometimes I get confused as to who posted about what and on which forum.

Thanks for dropping by GG, MM and Mr.P . I don't always get to go to CF with my son (like today) because of my commitments, but I try to help him get there as much as he wants to go. He certainly isn't afraid to push himself but he is still learning how to maintain form so he doesn't load up too much weight.
I'll be going tomorrow.
GG - Pierre has partnered with the new CF trainers in town (a married couple with a garage set-up). It's too far out of town for most of the CF goers to participate on a regular basis, but Pierre is offering some 5am austere training at one of the universities for those who like early workouts (crazy fools!). I am sure he will re-establish in time, with a facility and it will take off. I linked to the new web blog previously.

CF - ME (max effort) strength workout.
Warmup run
Warmup deads to find working weight - 1×5 reps Deadlift -160#
- 1×5 reps Push Jerk - 65#
- 1×5 reps Split Jerk - 65#
- 1×5 reps Bench Press - 95#
My DL was much better today than the last attempt. It still is at this weight, a "psyche-out game" . It is not heavy but I have bad self talk.
This was the first time I did a CF style bench press and I knew the form was going to be different in a more difficult way. I was right. Shoulder width grip and powerlift type body, breathing and foot position. (It sucks like crossfit pushups do) Good thing I had a spot or I would have psyched out again!
BTW - My sister went for further testing regarding her heart and everything came back better than normal even her blood pressure. All the doctor will offer as to what happened the other day was that he thinks she had an allergy or maybe asthma due to air pollution. He would not let her go off lipitor though until he gets her cholesterol results in. Scary to think that a healthy conditioned heart can suddenly "turn on you" in a stress test.

hey brat, great news that your sister got good results back from the doc.
Nice work on that strength workout, 1x5 at 160 for deadlift is great! Also 95 is great for bench especially considering the narrow grip.
