Cort - Starting back up

How's it going? It's been a while. I moved half-way across the country on my own to go to school, and haven't had regular gym access since then. I'm not horribly out of shape, but I finally got a membership at a local place, so here's to me getting back in there 3 days a week and keeping up with my running =) :

This shall be followed with tomorrow's workout.

Good luck with school and training! Have you set a specific goal, or just working on getting back into shape for the time being?

Muahaha. Aight, well, sht hit the fan shortly after I made that last post, but I'm back in school now and have full access to a gym and a pool.

Anyways...first time lifting in like 8 months, and I didn't really plan out the work out. I'm going to set up a routine to follow shortly, but I'm just glad to have a gym to go to for now, lol.

Monday

Bench
1 x 8 @ 135
" " @ 155
" " @ 175
" " @ 185
" " @ 195

Squats
1 x 8 @ 175
3 x 8 @ 220

Pull-ups
5 x 8 @ bodyweight

Machine rows

3 x 8 @ 200

Curls

2 x 8 @ 40 lb DBs.

Cardio: 20 minutes on the stairmaster.

Wednesday

Cardio: 20 laps in the pool. It's a big pool, that's all I know.

More to come tomorrow.

As for my goals? Mostly, I just want to get back to where I was with all of my lifts, shed a little fat, and then take it from there. I'm not far from it right now, which suprises the hell out of me, but I'm interested in seeing what my school has to offer along the lines of powerlifting. I expected to be a lot worse off than I am after 8 months of little physical activity. Tomorrow might be a downer because I still feel pretty roughed up, though.

Thursday

Deadlifts
1 x 3 @ 225
1 x 3 @ 295
4 x 3 @ 315

Pull-ups
4 x 8 @ BW

DB BO Rows
3 x 8 @ 80 ea. arm

Incline Bench Press
3 x 8 @ 175

Cardio: 2 miles at 7.5 mph

Comments: I mostly just went in for the deadlifts today, but I'm going to be doing a mix of light and heavy cardio 4-5+ days a week until I'm back down to my desired weight. I'm sitting at 190 right now, and I want to get back to around 170-175. It's my first week back so I'm trying not to kill myself with the lifts just yet, and I still need to get around to planning out an actual routine to follow.

Anyway, that's it for lifting until Monday, so I'll update this then along with the cardio I've done over the weekend.

PS. Bally Total Fitness has some majorly retarded free-weights. They're octagonal, so doing deadlifts without the bar moving one way or the other after you set it down is ****ing annoying. I had to reset after every other rep. I'm probably going to only do deadlifts at my school gym from now on, as I don't feel particularly comfortable with the equipment at Bally's.

Friday and Saturday

Well, I walked a good 5-6 miles each day, but not much else. Not having a car sucks =)

Monday 4/9

Deadlifts
1 x 8 @ 135
1 x 3 @ 295
1 x 3 @ 315
2 x 3 @ 325

Bench press
1 x 8 @ 185
2 x 6 @ 195

Squats
1 x 20 @ 150...ouch...............
1 x 12 @ 200

Pull-ups

3 x 8 @ BW

B/O Rows
2 x 10 @ 135

Standing Cable Tri-extensions
2 x 10 @ 150

Incline BP
2 x 8 @ 145

Lat pull-downs
3 x 10 @ 135

Comments: Well, I wanted to go for a swim afterward but the pool was closed so I went home. Anyway, on Weds. I'll be doing a leg-focused full-body workout, and Friday will probably just involve some heavy chest/tri. work with some cardio thrown in after.

Good news is, I'm down to 185 lbs fully clothed in hiking boots and rain gear. I stepped onto the scale with my back-pack first, lol, I didn't think I weighed 210...

I'm hoping to have my lifts back to where they previously were within the next month or two, and so far it's looking good.

Anyway, I'll be swimming laps tomorrow, but that's all.

Welp, my dad's in town, which threw a bit of a wrench in the gears.

Regardless, I did work out today!

But I forgot what I did?

Bench x some number of sets, the last one was 207 x 6 (woot)

Pull-ups
3 x 10 @ bw

Shoulder press
3 x 8 @ 120 (60 lb dbs)

Curls
3 x 8 @ 35 lb dbs

Dips
2 x 15 @ bw

Crunches, 3 x 15 w/ 25 lbs behind head

Ran 2 miles, then did 10 minutes on the stairmaster and called it quits.
