Good workout tonight. The highlights added 5lbs to my squats 265, added 15 to my OHP so I am at 115 it was hard 2 X 8 1 X 6.

Deads seemed really hard tonight don't know why and my bench was really hard today as well.

Oh well... I am also going to drop a day from the gym. I think I am not getting enough rest so Wed and Friday are rest days. With Sun, Tue, Thurs being lift days. Mon, Sat cardio only days and Wed, Fri off days.

Hey orkydoc, I think it's a good idea to drop a day of lifting. Three days of whole body weight training is enough for most people when you push yourself each session. Keep it up!

Wed was a cardio only day but, I feel I need more rest. I notice that Sundays lifts are alway really good coming off a day of rest on Friday and just cardio on Saturday... So I figure working it two days on one off will help me in the long run...

Dead lift 205 which is 94.04% of my body weight

Pendlay Row 140 which is 64.22% of my body weight

12/06/07 workout

Last night was a good night for lifting.

205 dead lift 3 X8 hard but I can do them the grip is improving as well!

270 Sqaut 3 X 8 hard which is a 5lbs bump.

140 Pendlay 3 X 8 hard

165 Bench press 2 X 8 1 X 7

115 OHP 1 X 8 1 X 7 1 X 6 and it is very hard!

Adding weight to lifts looking better and I am feeling better! All in all things are going great! This rocks! I literly forgot how good this feels. I forgot how good I can look, and how nice it is to be able to lift some real weight!

It is fun reading your journal and the great progress you are making. Keep up the good work and don't quit until the fitness miracle is completed.

Don't worry I will not be quitting anytime soon! I wouldn't call it a fitness miracle, more like what an everyday Joe can do with some time, the right information and a lot of hard work! But then I am not saying anything that most people here don't already know themselves.

12/09/07 Workout

Something was off on Sunday's lift I had a hard time making my lifts and getting my reps. Just one of those off days I guess. Could have been I only had 1 scoop of whey before I worked out as well, just not enough in the tank for all that weight... Also due to other people in the gym I was forced to change the order of my lifts I started with bench then went to squats, deads, pendlay, OHP. So that may have had something to do with it.

Squats 270 3 X 8 (not as hard)

Dead Lifts 205 3 X 8 (really hard)

Pendlay 140 3 X 8 (felt good)

Bench Press 165 1 X 8 1 X7 1 X 6 (failure)

OHP 115 2 X 8 1 X 7 (failure)

I noticed that my 3rd set of squats is my best. I get the most depth and they feel the best. Even with a warm up set and lots of streaching and body weight squats the first set is the hard.

12/11/07 Workout

It was a much better lift last night than on Sunday. I felt better I got my reps though I think in the past I had made some mathmatical errors in my weight. But I am slugging thought that as well... I added 5 lbs to my squats! So I am up to 275!

Squats 3 X 8 275* up 5lbs

Deads 3 X 8 205

Pendlay 3 X 8 140

Bench 1 X 8 1 X 7 1 X 6 165

OHP 1 X 8 1 X 6 1 X 6 115 (I had miscounted weight before but I am sticking with this weight it is hard almost too hard but I think overloading like this will just make me stronger)

On Thursday I think I'll bump the pendlay's up to 145

Deads are not moving because of my ability to hold the weight. It is getting better but I can lift more I just can't hold it. I am refusing to start using wraps. Though I may get some gloves soon my hands are really getting all caloused up from the bars. Not that I mind that much but I think my wife likes my hands softer....

Weekend notes: 12-13, 14, 15

Friday's lift sucked. I slipped in the shower Friday morning my lower back was hurting an I just couldn't lift well due to it.

Saturday's cardio session go out of hand. I did an hour on the tredmill. This was a fast walk 3.8 miles/hr at a 20% incline.

Sunday's lift was much better. Did a lot of streaching and really worked out the kinks my back from my slip on Friday. I lifted and it felt good and added 5 lbs to my Deads so that is up to 210. I added 5lbs to my pendlay rows as well so they are up to 145.

So I am just trucking a long! I am actually in a size 36 pants today they are a little tight but not too much so... I am also more and more wearing large shirts. So, I am on target! I am really hoping by the end of summer I can get back in to my favorite tank top!

My body weight is now 212 as of 12/15/07! So that is 29 lbs lost in 3 months! Not too bad at all in my book anyway. I expect my first weight plateu around 180.

Good lift last night. Deads were great squats felt good. backed off the weight for the shoulder presses, my form was suffering too much and I wasn't doing the lift correctly. But all in all I'd rather do my lifts with correct form and less weight than more weight and poor form.

The holidays have destoryed my gym time. So I will get back in the gym after the new year. Between work and other events I just am not making it. But I've gone hard for 3 months so a week 1/2 of no gym will not kill me. I've been keeping my calorie intake in check though!

1/04/08 Back at the gym

Back at the gym the first workout was last night. It was good though I am feeling it this morning. While lifting I had an idea about rep schemes I will post in a regular area to see what everyone thinks of it.

All in all not bad I miscounted the weight on my first set of squats instead of 275 I put on 300. I managed 6 good reps. I was pretty impressed all in all. I dropped pendlay rows and started using cable pull downs. I just wasn't seeing or feeling it with the pendlay rows. I'll do the pull downs for a while then switch to assisted pull-ups, then to real pull-ups.
