Fall Semester
I guess I'll start one. I'm not doing well right now. The depression is pretty bad and I just don't care about much of anything.
I got a test back in one of my psychology classes yesterday and I really think she graded me unfairly, as does everyone I talk to. I don't know how to approach it and it's just frustrating beyond all belief.
In short, the test asked very broad questions so I gave broad answers. She wanted us to be very specific. She said compared to everyone else I didn't give the level of specificity and that other people understood she wanted specifics.
I talked to someone else in class and she said she gave specifics because she always does on essay questions. She agreed that the professor said she didn't want details (like dates) on tests but she expected them as answers to her very broad questions.
In other news, I have lost over 5 lbs in a week. I am less than 5 lbs away from 100 lbs. I was 118 lbs this summer, most of it muscle.
Maybe if I can get back to the gym things will turn around. I'm not too hopeful about it, but willing to give it a try.
So, stats:
Height: 5'1
Current Weight: 104.5
Highest Weight: 118 lbs (summer 2007)
Lowest Weight: 86 lbs (summer 2005)

One test does not make a life...
Sophie,
I used to get very frustrated in school. I always did well, but certain teachers and policies would drive me nuts at the time. The important thing to remember is that one test or one class will be forgotten and really has no impact on your life. I can honestly say I don't remember a grade on any single test I took in High School, College, or Grad school. I'd bet you get the same answer from almost anyone. So, don't let one that one grade make a difference now...you'll forget about it anyway, so the sooner the better. At least now you know what the instructor expects, and you can do better on follow-on work. Good luck with your workouts.

I certainly agree, I get very frustrated with the way a lot of my teachers are. Atleast you know the reason why you got docked points a lot of the time I am just left wondering. Don't let school bring you down, and just remember specifics for the next test.

I don't really know what she wants though. She gave me an example on Thursday. If she were to ask the question
What is an EBT?
The answer that it is an empirically based test and that cognitive behavioral therapy is an EBT for depression and anxiety, she would also want the fact that the APA pushes or the use of EBT's.
I have NO CLUE how the part about the APA has anything to do with the question "What is an EBT?"
I answered all of her questions, I didn't have specifics, like the part about the APA, because they weren't asked. How am I supposed to know what she wants if she doesn't ask for it?
In other news, weight is back up to around 107 lbs. Dehydration will do a number on you.

Great work so far getting back to lifting/the gym!
Your professor sounds like one that I have had...she asks a very broad question to allow you to go in any direction you choose. You then can write everything you know, showing you have learned, as long as you can tie it all together somehow. I'd imagine this is more what she is looking for, not one simple answer to a broad question, but is rather giving you freedom to write more by asking a broader question. Hope this helps.

Hey sophie. It's great you are back in the gym. I know it's hard for you, but be sure to eat enough ok.
If you need to talk, you know how to get up with me.

So, while at work Wednesday my pedometer fell off, the battery opped open, and therefore I lost all of my data for that day. I have not reset the pedometer but am hoping to do so over the weekend and wear it starting next week.
So, Thursday I did pyramids for upper body:
Chest Press
30 - 8
40 - 8
50 - 5
Row
50 - 8
60 - 8
70 - 5
Curls
10 - 8
12.5 - 8
15 - 8
Triceps
15 - 8
20 - 8
25 - 5
Abs
Twists - 30-10-10
Lever Push Crunch - 55-15-15
It was a good workout. Weird that the same 8-8-5 pattern was for almost every exercise. The next weight I couldn't get a single rep on.
I'll do pyramids for legs tomorrow hopefully.

hello
school is so frustrating and professors who want what she wants makes life even more difficult. Is she easy to talk to or just shrugs you off? I would say to get the most out of any questions you have, ask what she wants, how she wants it, how to respond so that you will get a good grade.
I had sports and exercise psychology class in which he went over material in class- all from the book and our tests were essay and by essay I don't mean he gave 3 questions and we had to answer I mean we had to MEMORIZE EVERYTHING from the sections that were covered and write an essay from MEMORY! it was horrific!!!! I studied my ass off and ended up getting an A but they way he graded seems to be the same in that he was looking for very specific and detailed answers
good luck and don't let it stress you out too much especially if you are doing well in other classes!

Only got to the gym 3 times last week and will probably only be able to twice this week. I have an exam in Clinical Psychology, the class I failed the first exam. It was supposed to be tomorrow but she's sick so now it's Thursday. I talked to her today and she told me that she wants basically everything we talked about in class or read about in the book for an answer. Would have been nice to know that before.
In other news, I passed out/fainted Sunday. I don't know if I've written about my passing out episodes before. I get likewhite dots and if they get bad enough I'll pass out. After having this happenmany times and having a lot of different "diagnoses" my current doctor finallygave me a diagnoses that seems to fit, respiratory alkalosis and hypocapnea. It's a change in the body's pH level which can be brought on by unnoticed hyperventilation which one of the causes of is stress. Needless to say I've been under a lot of stress lately.
I'm okay. A friend of the family, Scott, was there and was helping me walk at the time so I didn't fall like I have in the past, he kind of lowered me to the floor.
Anyway, for some good news, these are my current grades
Intermediate Latin = A- (not incuding quiz we just turned in today)
Ancient Philosophy = A (not including midterm we took last Thursday)
Research Methods Learning and Motivation = B
Existentialism = C+
Clinical Psychology = F (out of place, huh?)
Fixed my pedometer over the weekend so today's stats are:
10913 steps
3.27 miles
1 hour 49 minutes 33 seconds
303 calories burned
1.79 mph
99 steps per minute
